If you bought a brand new Fox 40 and brought it home and put it in storage, how long would the damper fluid be "good" for before you need to change it? 1 year? 2? 3? 4? Less? I did some lazy googling and couldn't find what I was looking for so I figured I would ask you retards

I don't think the oil would degrade significantly even if stored for years.

When you're using the fork, moisture and dirt tend to get churned into the oil, but that wouldn't tend to happen in storage. I'm also going to guess that condensation of moisture would not be an issue.

Yeah, degradation if it's just sitting should be pretty minor. When you're actually using it, you get a combination of contamination from dirt/water ingress, and the hydrocarbons breaking down from shear and thermal cycling. None of that would occur much in a box.

in a single wide, cooking meth...
As the others have said, I think the squish juice should be fine - the only thing I could imagine being problematic is the seals if the fork was stored upright (i.e. they be dry) in an excessively hot/cold bong shed for a long time. Probably not an issue tho, and certainly a minor concern considering you're fool enough not to ride a RUX.

thanks bros. my 40 isnt sitting in the box, but its only got 25> hours ride time on mellow terrain over the past 3-4 years so i imagine its doing just fine. stupid practical trail bike and injuries have kept the dh bike in the garage for far too much time.

I can see the bottom of the cup.

Lies. All lies.
I mean, that looks about right for one that's spent those 15 years in a hermetically sealed clean room. You don't know that that's not the case here.

He bought that NOS, it was sitting in a bike shop in Japan in its factory packaging until 2 weeks ago
