US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia - one of most conservative members of the high court - has died.

Justice Scalia's death could shift the balance of power on the US high court, allowing President Barack Obama to add a fifth liberal justice to the court.

The court's conservative majority has recently stalled major efforts by the Obama administration on climate change and immigration.

Justice Scalia, 79, was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986

Front Range, dude...
...and zero fucks were given. Screw this guy, he has been a Koch sucker since the day he put on the robe and started screwing the common man. I rarely take joy in anothers demise...but in this case I make exception.

Already happened....

Conn Carroll, a key staffer for Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), promised Republicans would block anyone that Obama nominated.

What is less than zero? The chances of Obama successfully appointing a Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia?

If anything this will put a full stop to all Obama judicial nominees going forward.

And let me guess: every one of these fuckwads probably loved scalia for his 'constitutionalism'

The first thing I thought when I heard yesterday, was how sad it was that Hunter S. Thompson wasn't still around to eulogize Scalia the way he did Nixon. Times like this I wish I was still a religious man, so that I could believe that Scalia was bound to get the justice he truly deserves.

Look on the bright side, maggots will be eating his rotten bloated carcass. You don't need an imaginary friend to believe that.

Well, no. There are no maggots underground, and we tend to dope carcasses up with enough chemicals nowadays that no self-respecting vermin will ingest them until the poisons have diffused into the water table.
That and modern caskets are lined with a pretty much impenetrable polymer lining.

I was just trying to cheer Shane up. Thanks for ruining it.

Is there not legal precedence for Obama to nominate an interim judge if the Senate refuses to vote?
Precedent, not precedence, afaik. I read last night that interim justices whose term only last until Congress's is over have been appointed in the past, albeit not since Eisenhower.

They are claiming that voters should have a say. They must have forgotten that Obama was elected, twice.

Right, because the Kahnstatooshun says we vote in Supreme Court Justices...

From NPR: "The longest time a Supreme Court nominee has ever had to wait to get a vote was 125 days. President Obama has 341 days remaining in his term."

I read something on Reddit yesterday, that went something along the lines of how surprisingly un-conservative it was of Scalia to drop dead without some sort of rent-boy/male prostitute being involved. Maybe the weekend at the ranch was a meth fueled, male gang bang, rager? I'm not saying that's what happened, but nobodies denied it.
I heard Lamar Odem was in the area.......
