I had no idea I lived in a white utopia.

In more recent times, the city repeatedly undertook “urban renewal” projects (such as the construction of Legacy Emanuel Hospital) that decimated the small black community that existed here. And racism persists today. A 2011 audit found that landlords and leasing agents here discriminated against black and Latino renters 64 percent of the time, citing them higher rents or deposits and adding on additional fees.

I have to admit, when I moved from So-cal to PDX, I suffered a bit of culture shock. That town is pretty fucking white.
While compared to San Diego, I would agree. But growing up in the valley, it was all white and brown. In a high school of over 5000 kids, I want to say there were only 8 black kids (that I can think of). It was almost an even 3 way split between White, Mexican, and Portuguese.

I have noticed a HUGE change in North Portland, though. MLK used to be where you would normally find MLK, but now the hipsters took over and most of MLK is now upper middle class white folk. It's all relocated along the east side Max from Gateway to Gresham. So the Max is now sketch from Llyod Center all the way to Gresham. Makes for a fun ride.

I always knew the Rouge Valley was racist as hell, but I had no idea it was a state thing from the start. :panic:

and from my work world:
http://khn.org/news/race-ethnicity-affect-kids-access-to-mental-health-care-study/

"One in five Americans is estimated to have a mental health condition at any given time. But getting treatment remains difficult — and it’s worse for children, especially those who identify as black or Hispanic.

That’s the major finding in research published Friday in the International Journal of Health Services. The study examines how often young adults and children were able to get needed mental health services, based on whether they were black, Hispanic or white. Using a nationally representative sample of federally collected survey data compiled between 2006 and 2012, researchers sought to determine how often people reported poor mental health and either saw a specialist or had a general practitioner bill for mental health services.

“No one is necessarily bigoted — and yet we have a system that creates the kind of discrimination we see in the paper,” said Steffie Woolhandler, a professor at City University of New York School of Public Health, and one of the study’s authors. “Kids are getting half as much mental health treatment — and they have the same level of mental health problems.”"

I have access to that study's full text. The effect was stronger for 0-17 than 18-34 years old, but being near poor or poor in the former group explained over 100% of the observed difference between blacks and whites in mental health visits. It's not as sexy of a headline to state that, though…

White lives matter too, dammit!

A small group of protestors holding ‘White Lives Matter’ signs staged a demonstration outside the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People building in Houston on Sunday.

Holding Confederate flags and assault rifles, the group of nearly 20 people gathered in Houston to protest against the NAACP for failing to condemn the perceived role of Black Lives Matter in relation to the deaths of white police officers.
Wow.

“Stop! He’s not white! He’s Asian!”

I wasn’t sure who said it, or how they knew my race, but within seconds, the punches stopped. Someone grabbed me by the arm and lifted me up. As my vision came back into focus, I saw a group of concerned black faces and heard someone repeating, “Don’t fuck with Chinese dudes.” My attackers had run off. Those who had intervened escorted me to safety.

Trump calling Clinton a bigot, or lazy.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/trump-clashes-anderson-cooper-over-232749475.html

Cooper: So you’re saying she has hatred or dislike of black people?

Trump: Her policies are bigoted because she knows they’re not going to work.

Cooper: But you’re saying she’s personally bigoted …

Trump: Oh she is. Of course she is. Her policies. They’re her policies she comes out with the policies and others that believe like she does also but she came out with policies over the years. This is over the years. Long time. She’s totally bigoted — there’s no question about that.

Cooper: But it does imply that she has antipathy that she has hatred toward, I guess in this case you’re talking about African-Americans, but I don’t want to put words in your mouth.

Trump: I think she has been extremely extremely bad for African-Americans. I think she has been extremely bad for Hispanics. You look at what’s happened with her policies and the policies of President Obama and others. Look at the poverty. Look at the rise in poverty. Look at the rise in violence.

Cooper: But hatred is at the core of that or dislike of African-Americans?

Trump: Or maybe she’s lazy.

Jesus christ. I got about half way through that before I started to feel a bit ill. Post racial indeed.
:stupid:

There was a small part of me that was surprised the list was THAT LONG (I didn't look through it all, either). I guess you could say it was a little shocking to me, even for Fox.

Just read it. - Well as much as I could stomach, I bailed before half way.
There are some seriously fucked up people commenting.
How does anybody generate that much hate without a big personal interaction is just - wow.
Some people should just not be allowed to breed, teach or interact with the young in any way shape or form.
Then maybe, just maybe, the next generations will be able to at least find a clue.
