Why won't the younger kid sleep alone for more than 5 hours? Oh well. At least she's a warm bundle to snuggle with.

Me go ride!

Finally had some time, found local parks with decent singletrack. Have to jam hardtail into the trunk of the Mini. Think I need one of those cheesy bike racks that straps onto the rear. (Can't do a hitch rack, alas...)

Wife, who has been sick for a month now finally goes to get seen (I had been pushing this for 2 weeks but she "didn't have time"). Initially diagnosed as bronchitis by urgent care ding-dong, I again called BS but was ignored. Phone rings this morning--chest x-ray shows pneumonia. Hooray for antibiotics. Looking forward to healthy/happy better half. Many points received on my part for pushing the issue to get her sorted out. This will be banked against future impulse purchases...

Morning Monkeys.

Cold and rain today. Not sure my pooch will be a trail dog as she seems to be lazy as all get out. She gave up chasing the ball yesterday because it rolled too far away. She is a great lap dog and loves being on the couch. But she is excited about walkies than most dogs.

In hell. Welcome!
Apparently the snow blower season is over and it's the chainsaw and wood chipper season now. I am joining a ride with friends, a cautious one with mud expectations, beer belly and legs made of cheese.

Bronchitis untreated turns into pneumonia. Been there, done that.

My own world inside my head
First time all weekend I feel anything like a human. Started getting g sick Friday morning, let's just say I have not been more than twenty feet from a restroom the whole weekend.
Still dehydrated and still feeling horrible. Will probably get sent home from work but I am gonna try.

This sucks

So much for "let's take it slow an easy". Some of the most technical trails in the local forest were ridden, with a pretty good pace (for a pre-season ride), now I want moar.

Indian food take out to be picked up in the next 10 minutes, then beers and daydreaming about summer riding for the rest of the day.

First ride on dirt in a while yesterday. Big toe is still angry so I kept the ride mild. Hit up Duthie. Hero dirt conditions, absurd lean angles achieved.

I also have a wife who refuses to have access to the hatch impeded, and live in an apartment that makes removal/storage/reinstallation of a hitch rack an impossibility.

She's not keen on a roof rack, either.
Have you considered a car that doesn't suck?

have you looked at swing away bike racks? one pin and you swing the whole assembly out of the way giving full use of the hatch and making it so you do not have to remove the rack ever.

Rode on snow for the first time since my ride in Sedona. It was nice and all, but it reminded me that summer riding on dirt rules.

Took the boys to the pool this afternoon. Chicken is in the oven. Work tomorrow.

short backcountry ski day kicked my ass, hip flexors were screaming and general energy level was about 2 clicks below where I needed it to be. ugh, getting old is a bitch.

It's hers. My Subaru (with Sportworks rack) is up at the vacation house. And it's fun to drive. Only wish it was rear-wheel.

Appreciate the advice, because I hadn't really thought of that, but all of this is more elaborate than I need, and that she'll tolerate on her car. My job will have me deployed for weeks/months on end for the next few years. On the rare occasions I'll get to ride, a little fold-away trunk (hatch) rack will need to do it for me...

Plus I'll probably buy some sort of road bike to hit the multi-use paved rail trail that's a half-mile from the house. Running sucks these days.
