A predicted coating to an inch on Saturday turned into a fluffy 4-6" and made for perfect snowy trails yesterday - no fatbike needed. Only needed to dial the speed down a click or two, traction was great. Best snow ride in years.

Floating down the whiskey river...
22 miles kayaking this weekend. Lots of strong wind, and white cap waves. Was supposed to be the final Eagle watch trip of the year. Didn't see any eagles. Oh well, still better than working.

Does anyone have a good spring recommendation? Size 7.875x2.25, 200x57. For the Vivid R2C. Mostly for trail riding.

Good Morning!!

It's a beautiful December day out there. The sun is shining, and will melt all of this snowy crap away. My 45min. commute took 2hrs. on Friday when the snow came in....then, as soon as I got out of the car after surviving that, I promptly bit the dust on my driveway. Landed like a wet bag of sand on my side with my elbow tucked under me...feels like a dump truck ran over my doughy parts. Moving slow today, but I'm here.

Great weekend in NYC with friends.
Woke up to hear a buddy was killed in a car accident last night. RIP Reg.

Mornin!

Wife and I hiked 12ish miles and 3,000' of up on Saturday. Called it early though, the plan called for a wee bit more mileage and another 1,000; of elevation gain, but we decided against that as it would have meant hiking down some rugged terrain in the dark with only my headlamp (I told her to bring hers, "why would I possibly need that?!" she said).

Fork is back together, this time via torque wrench. Bike is on two wheels, just to set up the drivetrain, give the brakes another bleed, then it'll be ready to roll!

'mornin. First chilly commute in this morning. 7°F (-14°C) with a windchill of -6°F. I was worried about not having the right gear. what a silly thought. I have too much gear to choose from. I overheated. I thought of stopping to take a picture of the Parliament buildings with steam rising up off the river in the foreground, but my goggles were fogging up enough as it was. Had I stopped moving itwould have been game over.

Anybody have a recommendation for biking goggles that don't fog up? I need clear lenses as it's dark on the ride home for half the winter commuting season. I looked into Ryders because their antifog lenses on their glasses work really well for me, but they don't offer that option with goggles.

it's a beauty day out there, and they're calling for much snow overnight, and cold temps to round out the week. to winter!

why not use ski goggles? I like Smith I/O.
caus' they're big money? And I thought biking wouldn't be fast enough to get air flowing through them. though I have a few pairs I could try. My rose coloured lenses do well with night skiing, so I'd imagine they'd work for evening commuting too....

First chilly commute in this morning. 7°F (-14°C) with a windchill of -6°F.
I draw the line personally at 15° F. Today I drove in despite 32° F, in fact, because being around all of The Olds at the symphony last night apparently gave me the SARS.

This morning's commute was filled with little frustrations:

- Aurora public works idiots who thought it a good idea to schedule street cleaners down the median + 1 of 3 traffic lanes on a major arterial at 7:50 AM
- people stuck behind said street cleaners who threatened to or actually popped out of their lane without checking to see if traffic in the next lane would allow for that
- dude across from me at a 4 way stop on campus who arrived at his station shortly before me yet didn't turn on his left turn signal and then turn until partway in the intersection--I'd already started to move myself assuming we were each going to go straight across.

Holy crap it is Monday already. What the...

My body cooperated yesterday for the first time in months; I was able to sleep in a little. Went and hiked some old school bike trails that we dug 12+ years ago. I am guessing that they have not been ridden or even touched in the last 5. Still cool to see the berms and stuff hidden in there. I also hiked, or rather slid, down another trail that I rode in the spring on the CX bike. That hill is way steeper than I remember, its a mystery how I actually made it down that trail on that bike without eating shit.

since Saturday nite i feel like there is a prism in my brain dividing my thoughts into separate sub divided thoughts. all the split thoughts are super vivd & I am really enjoying the new perspective. I hope it doesn't go away.

In other news I gorged on duck & burgundy all weekend & my pants are not fitting the same today lol

Green Mountain up in Boulder. Parked at NCAR and came around from the back side. Was planning on doing Bear Peak via the West Ridge while we were up there, but daylight had different plans.

We are mulling doing Bear Peak and South Boulder Peak next weekend. That's a pretty badass hike too.
