Scratched the itch last night, though I caught by shorts on the saddle at the top of the descent. That, plus stuffing it in a corner, we’re the only two incidents. Overcast here today, networky thing after worky thing. Dad is visiting and we had a nice meal of food last night. Girlfriend is doing pre-orientation for her new job this morning, and her arm is healing nicely. I could really use some new clothing, starting to notice how worn out most of my shorts and pants are.

Mornin!

Water tank arrived and is in. Plumbing has been leak checked and the system bleached. Now I just need to check off little things on the list and we’ll be ready to hit the road, albeit 2.5 weeks later than intended.

Morning Monkeys.

Got notice at work that training for the new tool starts next week. I also got a personal thank you for my continued efforts from the asshole who said we could all be replaced by said tool.

So training next week, yay. Ain't got shit to do until then, I'll be in the shed if anyone needs me.

Rode in, human powered. 78% humidity as a storm is imminent so felt all sweaty and shit.

FTS is high. Fell asleep in Haley's room last night reading a book with her; neck is currently sore as hell. She had a breakdown when I dropped her off at BASE. Apparently she is not meshing into her new school well, even though this is a very limited number of kids - 30 over K-6. Another long day in play today and to my tomorrow. Giddy.

Every year for the last 10 my friends go on Vacation. I take care of their Farm. Just 2 Dogs, 2 Cows, 2 Horses, a Sow, more cats then can be counted. Because of my health I could not commit to doing it this year. I helped out instead. Their Sister took it on this year. I was happy to not have to clean the Horse stalls. I took care of the cows. Ruby and Jewel. It seems Cows are pretty cool. They kind of knew me. I liked hanging out with them. My friends come home tomorrow. I am going to miss Ruby.

Praying nothing goes the way of Montana here.
There is simply too much at stake.

(Mildly long read)

I haven't done any riding in the Sapphire WSA/Bitterroot (NW MT) but it sounds like a few of their trails have temporarily "reopened" to bikes as a result of this court decision (i.e. ride them while you can...)

I spent most of the day laid out on my back. couldn't even open my eyes to watch Netflix for a large part of the day. Had to listen to documentaries instead (on the past 12 years of l'Équipe de France... what a wild ride they've had).

Woke up feeling queasy. as I was getting the kids ready for forest camp, I ran to the can and puked my guts out. I felt better after that so I drove them to camp, but by the time I was driving home (25 minutes each way), I wasn't sure I would make it home without being sick. I made it and crawled into bed at 9:30 and stayed there till 6. I haven't felt this gawdawful in a really long time. And now, suddenly I feel normal again. I just have a massive headache from not having my coffees today.

Kids are out playing soccer at the park. what a treat it is to have to whole house to yourself, nice and quiet.

Stopped to move this huge thorn covered vine at neck level from the trail tonight and found a hooooge bush of berries. I ate some...but they need some water and a few more days.

Bike felt dialed tonight. Might be the hero dirt from last night's rain, but the tires and suspension just felt "right".

In hell. Welcome!
Terrible humidity all day long, with massive rains and storms from early afternoon on. New stem and heavier spring for rear shock arrived and got installed on the trail bike. During a hunt for the source of a creak under load, I figured it could be the cassette - took it apart, cleaned and greased, and the creak seems to be gone.
In other news, I scored two packs of Cat's Meow so life is good again.

i liked that cat’s meow...OM NOM NOM

i, too, need to track down creak/grind under load. bottom bracket and cassette are first suspects. chainring and pedals next.

SAME.

I pulled all the pivot bolts out, took crank off and retightened everything tonight.

Damn creak under power or big direction changes is still there. The big bearings on the biggest pivot did feel a little chunky. And of course the Race Face bottom bracket ones that don't have any shielding....

RF BBs need to be re-packed with grease once a month or so, but I took mine apart last week. What also creaks is the crank spindle if the preload ring is not tight, or the chainring if the locking is not tight. In my case, both should be fine and I am hoping it was the cassette. If not, suspension bearings are my next step. :twitch:
