Nah start times are locked in before the event and you've got an allocated stage start time. Depending on the course sometimes the Amateurs run the whole course anyway, but some events the Amateurs skip a stage, or they close features for them (like the 1199 track in Whistler this year).
The...
And thank you for that. That's all I needed. I know fit is important. This is why I probably won't buy a Bell or a TLD since those tend to not fit me well. I will try newer models to be sure though. I will also avoid 100% since the one I just destroyed had the worst carbon weave I have even...
I think that originally came from a race at Crankworx in Whistler. I think they threatened with fines or disqualifications. I think it might even still be a rule? But is ignored?
I'm down. From a USA/Colorado perspective, Whistler is easier, but Europe is uhhh more exotic? Maybe time it with a worldcup near by? Would love to see one of those over there.
Global pandemic?! So it's not cool to bring a dead bat? What if I wear a mask and stay 6 freedom units away from...
Have in mind many top racers don't go full tilt on pre season, non WC races. This alone makes it less important.
Also the logic of Hannah is faster this year because she won this year over someone who won last year over someone who is fast but still generally slower than Hannah was in 2019 is a...
was just gonna say, the potential for performance bonuses (ie win money from sponsors) at the worldcup might be a factor, at least for the top handful of racers.
Hmmm I've some DHR2's I was going to put on this year, but some of the resorts can be pretty dry (understatement for Granby Ranch).
Jealous, was hoping for Whistler this year along with Sun Peaks too (brother lives there), but it will have to be next year.
Nathan Rennie back in his Ironhorse Madcatz days at Whistler in 2002. The year before he'd go on to be Worldcup champ. 'nuff said!

Yep they have quietly started hosting UCI sanctioned DH and XC events with thinks like the Canada Cup and the Canadian Open being a UCI class 1 level event. They need to jump through these hoops with the UCI before then can apply to host a WC.
The 2019 dates have been announced but not...
not a team rumor per se, but it sounds like Whistler wants a worldcup after all.

I think it's just for fun.
Gee was making fun of Eddie at the last round for missing a WorldCup to race the Whistler Enduro and we've heard many DH Pros stating they'd possibly consider Enduro after they retire. It's fair game that someone mainly associated with Enduro winning a WorldCup rubs...
For myself I started with the notion that 10=worldcup caliber racer. 9=national level racer. 8=provincial level racer. I've ridden with guys that raced at the provincial level and they're faster, but I can keep them in my sights. So I chose 7. Then I described the trails I've ridden in the...
Wasn't there a rumor that Angel Fire lost money on their WC endeavor in 2005?
Do you see the annoying GoPro games advertised? Vail or the parent company, Vail Resorts, which as you know includes Keystone has no interest in a WC. It's not family friendly enough or revenue generating enough (I...
Not sure why you'd want to go there all the way from the land under...The riding there isnt all that great and there isnt much to ride other than that mountain...You'll be 45 min away from downtown and transit is a pita....There isnt much to do at night other than WC parties...
Having said that...
You won't know if you don't click on it.
(in a whispering voice) Go ahead... Click on it

what exactly is your point?
Everytime this comes up on ridemonkey I see the same answers, whistler doesn't need to host a worldcup to make money and doesn't want the headache that comes with the UCI. Same answers I have read up until I got to this post of yours. What is your link supposed to show?
But you are not one whistler owners or mangers. If you want to see a worldcup buy a plane ticket. Put yourself in Whistler ppls place. UCI has on numerous ocasions tried to pressure Whistler like with their stupid idea to treaten riders enterining non UCI sanctioned races with exclusion and...
