Need Advice on Purchasing a new Fork

JOJO: I've been racing all season with a SID and have no complaints. A great race fork. I also have a FOX FRLT 80mm on my hardtail and I love it. I think it is better for all-purpose XC riding compaired to the SID, which is better suited for racing.

nutrition quesiton, post workout before bed

That doesn't sound like a bad meal to me. I usually consume mass quantities of food after a long ride. I usually try and eat something balanced, carbs and protien. Having some gatorade right after a hard ride seems to help me recover too. In the Summer when I am riding 4 days a week I seem to...

May try a few races this year

Wanted to get some begginer tips on racing my MTB this year. I've always wanted to try a few but a broken scapula and my heart surgery last year prevented that. I've been riding now for about 3 years. They have a begginner advanced level at some of the races around here which is anywhere from...

    Help with strength training

Yes, I've read of some and actualy have incorporated some of them with what I am doing. Just getting some different opinions and maybe curious if anyone knows of someone whom has had a similar experience. My cardiologist left the strength training up to me since I was lucky and made a very...

    Help with strength training

Just recently started hitting the weights, a few weeks ago. I had heart surgery in January and I need to start building back my chest muscle and upper body. Just wanted to get some opinions on some strength training for my upper body. I've been doing the normal bench, curls, squats all that...

How many chinups can you do?

Doing chin-ups properly is difficult. I weigh about 148 lbs and used to be able to about 10-12, 3 or 4 sets ( that was before I broke my shoulder and then had heart surgery). Push-ups is another exercise when done with proper technique, can be difficult. Haven't gotten back to doing them yet...

    Heat exhaustion?

I have had personal experience with this. I had the same symptoms after riding one night last summer. My temp was around 104 or something so I went to the hospital. They treated me for heat exhaustion and deydration, however my primary care doctor and cardiologist couldn't explain what...

    nutrition before a big ride

It sounds like your pre ride diet is pretty good. I know severaleople including myslef whom eat this exact same way and it seems to gove me good energy while I ride, especialy in the Summer since my rides are longer and more frequent. 15-20lbs is allot of weight to put on. You should do some...

Hey vegetarians, I need some advice

I second the protien shakes. Egg and Whey protien is good. One or two shakes a day should be fine. You can have them with milk so it doesn't taste too bad.

Help me heal faster and stay fit..

I'm recently coming off a fractured scapula. I was in a sling for 5 weeks. The first week of the injury I took it easy then I started to walk everyday. It took about 2 months of PT to get my motion back and then I started riding a stationary bike, running ect. By the time I got back on the...

    Best climbing f/s bike??

I think climbing has to do with your legs, not the bike. I have a Specialized Epic and a Trek 8000 hardtail and I climb pretty good on both bikes. I've ridden light and heavy bikes and I climb all the same. I only weight 150lbs so maybe that's why I don't feel much of a difference on...

    Epic and Blur

I purchased the base Epic almost a month ago and it was very easy to set up. This is my first full-suspension bike and it is working great. After some serious hours on it I have to admit that it does exactly what Specilized claims. It feels nice a stiff when locked out and when the suspension...

    Good time to replace cables?

When is a good time to replace all the cables on your bike? I've been riding about 3 times per week for about a year and the last time I had my bike in the shop the mechanic said that after my next tune up I should replace all the cables. Any suggestions?

    Sore back?

JOJO is dead on with the fittball. I injured my back severly playing hockey several years ago and had to do dome serious rehab. Most of which involved a fittball and doing core/abs training. That's how I got into mountain biking. They (doctors)told me that I needed surgery but I worked hard...

    Easy Diets

    Learning how to spin

Spinning started to hurt my knee so I took a break for a few weeks but now I am noticing that when I mountain bike my pedaling in smoother. I think it has really helped me learn to push down flat and pull up while riding. Spinning isn't really that hard you just try to keep up you cadence as...
