888 or high end Boxxer and you're good to go.
I just bought a lightly used Demo 9 (stock setup) for $2075+S+H. I would have rather had the Demo 8.
It might be worth it to swap out the fork even if you're selling it. I think most folks looking for that bike are expecting an 8" fork.
I went with a Med 04 Demo 9. "like new" for a little over 2 grand. I will be here Monday. I would have liked the Demo8, but I'm impatient and this was a pretty good deal.
Maybe putting the shock in the higher postion will help it turn a little quicker. Any thoughts?
Any other tips for a...
Thanks for responding. It's not easy for me to "go and ride them" where I live. From what I've read, I'm leaning towards the medium. The top tube length is only .5cm longer than my med Bullit. The only hesitation I have is the 46.5" wheelbase....my Bullit is 41.9".
The local runs range from...
I'm seriously considering getting an 04 or 05 Demo 8 or 9.
I'm 5'8" and currently ride a med Bullit. The med Bullit seems to fall between the S and M size Demos. What size would all you experienced gravity riders rec?
We have 3 trails between the ski slopes at Swain and a couple outside the ski area. One of them is by far the favorite...Very steep at the top and a nice speedy flow through the rest.
Our other favorite is our lil' North Shore...wooden pallet jumps, teeter totter, a nice stunt where you jump...
I built up an Azonic propulsion/Z1 freeride with beefy components this summer. I use mostly for up/down fitness rides, but I think I'll race some Super D next year with it.
Sat. Oct 22nd...See Northeast forum for details.
There's no formal "race". Mostly DH/freeride shuttles.
I will challenge anyone to an up the slope/down the slope "race" at high noon.
Bump
Oct. 22nd is next Sat.
It looks like Downhill Drew 's going to have a band as well.
I'll challenge anyone to an up the slope/down the slope race..come on down and kick the old guy's ass....high noon
Tenchiro beat me to a witty response.
Search Ridemonkey for the possibilty of switching your 2.0 "stroke" shock for a 2.25 stroke with the same overall shock length. I think it'll give you another 2/3"
The Screaming Pads....That'll be the name of my new band
The pads will probably break in after a few runs. You could also try loosening the caliper screws, squeeze brake lever, retighten screws...thus realigning the pads.
The rebound damping only kicks in when knob is almost all the way turned clockwise. There seeme to be no happy medium between no damping and too much. Any tips? Oil level? Cartidge shot? BTW the ETA works.
I built up a Super D style "do anything" bike.....
Azonic Propulsion, Azonic Outlaw wheels, sturdy components, and an 03 Z1 freeride fork I got on Ebay.
The bike is perfect for ride up..bomb down smoother trails (my usual daily ride stuff).
But I digress..
My question is- The Rebound damping...
You can put a spacer under the top crown to raise the bar height, or go up to a 2" rise bar..and the stem should have mount holes for 50 or 70 length. So there is some adjustability.
I run about 1/2" spacer under the top crown with the stem mounted in the longer position on a...
I find a hardtail too harsh for downhill at my advanced age (38). I had an Azonic DS-1 hardtail as a do it all bike, then I picked up an Azonic Propulsion frame this summer (short travel, strong frame). Now the ds-1 sits on the trainer. Even with only 3.5 " travel in the back, it takes the edge...
I'll take this oppurtunity to once again rec. the Azonic Outlaws. 32 mm wide, fairly light for their strength, adaptable to QR and thru axle F+R. ...and you can them for about $250
