Not trying to put a damper on your plans man, but i just talked to my friend who lives up there and he said the 10 day was calling for nothing but rain.
Just thought i'd give you a heads up.
DBR, how often do you guys get good freeride/downhill components in there?
The only used bike store i've ever been in was "The Hub" up here in B'ham, and all they have is 20yr old xc parts.
The stock shock is 7.785x2.00
However, you can put a 7.785x2.25 on there. It will give him an extra inch of travel, wont change his geometry, and the only thing he will have to do is slide his front derailur up about 1/8 of an inch.
What frame is this fork going to be put on?
Overall i'd say the RC3 is the sweetest riding 66 i've been on.
A friend has one on his Bottlerocket, and is it the best combination i've ridden.
RC3 for the win.
If you want to stick with air, then the DHX Air is your best bet.
You will most likely want to stick with some sort of pedal-platform, so if you go coil then get a DHX 5.
Stay away from the Roco due to its lack of a pedal-platform.
Do you know what the shock dimensions are?
Wow!
That thing looks sick with the urban camo rims.
What kind of brakes are you running?
The only further suggestion I have would be to look into a different rear shock. I'm not sure how long the Swinger Air will last.
Offer the guy 850 for the Stinky.
If he says yes, go for it. I doubt you will be able to find a DBD for that price.
If not, I'd say go for the Mongoose.
For $850 you will be getting a solid frame and parts spec, but you will want to buy a new frame after probably a year. For some reason it...
First hike the area you plan to build the trail in. This allows you to get a feel for the pitch of the ground, and other terrain features.
Second, use prospectors tape every 10-20ft or so to mark out the general route of the trail. In order to get the most “bang fer your buck” try...
I'd go for the medium if I were you (for yourself).
I'm 6'3" with long arms and legs, and ride a large.
At this point it is getting a little on the small size, but i bought it when i was about 5'11" (a couple years ago) and it was definitely too big for me then.
For your girl, look into...
Personally if I were you, I would look used.
You can get a bike which is only a season or two old for half of its original retail.
For 2g’s you can get a used bike that went for around $4,000 initially
Scour pinkbike.com and the ridemonkey classifieds for a good deal.
Personally I prefer the more linear feel of the coil.
For me the air ramps up to early, and I felt as if I was being robbed of the last inch or so of travel. It could have been a setup issue as I only rode it for a couple or runs.
With the coil I knew I was using every millimeter or travel...
The "authorized" RS dealer in my area refused to order me the Team Compression/Rebound cartridge becuase my fork has the silver Race lowers.
Dont ask me why.
I've tried all of the major online stores, as well as RS directly.
Only thing I've considered is trying to put the New Mission...
Not that this has anything to do with the topic, but what was the point of switching from iscg to iscg-05?
Was it an issue of addapting to bike design, or just something new?
I cant see any perfrormance increases with the new design....
