When you're lifting, don't just concentrate on your legs. Do a lot of core work too, if you legs don't have a strong base to go off of they're about useless. Try some hard boiled eggs throughout the day as well, full of protein and it's decently healthy compared to a lot of other stuff.
I have the exact same set-up. The metal levers, like Pedro's, are about the only way to do it. You also need to stick some sort of lube (dish soap works awesome and cheap) to get the bead on. Those and about all your arm strength and you'll be alright.
I ain't raced since '04 due to being either in the middle of nowhere or in another country's middle of nowhere, and I've been chomping at the bit to get back into it. You won't realize how much you miss it until you don't or can't do it anymore.
Ask around town for the best artist, bring in what you want to incorporate in your sleeve, and they should be able to draw something up for you. Any good artist will draw up what they think will look the best with what you want in it, and don't have any qualms changing it around if it ain't...
I did a real good check of the frame and cranks right when I got off work, everything is still straight and no miscolorations at all in the paint. I'll keep an eye on it this weekend when I go hit up the skatepark.
I spent my three month vacation in San Diego, the recruits here got it pretty easy IMO. And that's the only place to go in the area is the Skatepark, nearest good stuff other than that is Clemson.
