What trail bike tire casings don't suck?

For anyone interested, Evo is selling the E*13 TRS Race A/T for $56, pretty solid deal in a world of few discounts and even worse availability. Been running a DHR2 EXO+ out back and keen to try this tire...

    Gwiny

The guy has also been chronically injured though, listened to an interview with him recently and he caught a pretty ridiculous streak of bad luck. I do think guys like Pierron have caught up to Gwin in what seems to be a lack of fear when going mach stupid that he may have brought over from moto...

    Brake pad brand and use

I rode TRP Quadiems for 3 seasons and never had to bleed them for any performance issue. I bled them a couple of times just because its an easy Shimano-like process, but it was really a "I guess I should probably bleed these?" scenario versus noticing any appreciable difference in performance...

    Brake pad brand and use

I bought some Dominion A4s to up the power from my old TRP Quadiem G-Spec, and they've delivered. The aesthetics aren't my favorite, but performance is really excellent. So far they are the closest thing I've found to the solid feel and reliability of the Quadiems, but with significantly more...

    Brake pad brand and use

Has anyone here tried MTX? Been eyeing their gold pads to replace the rather-easy-to-glaze pads on my Dominion A4s. Steve Vanderhoeck is apparently supported by them and he definitely likes to do things where decent brakes matter so as not to die a horrible death, so maybe that's a solid athlete...

    Battle of the crabonz

I only have a few rides on my Nobls, but like them a lot. Price with the 1/1 hubs was very good, rims look sweet though I do wonder if the wavy profile really does anything other than look cool. Wheelset was pretty damn light too, at least compared to my old one... Side note on the 1/1 hubs...

I'm 6'1, fairly average proportions for my height and loving my 470mm reach Titan (size L). The 450mm stays keep the wheelbase pretty lengthy, stack is tall but with minimal spacers feels really comfortable and upright. My buddy's Commencal Meta AM from a couple of years ago had much shorter...

New Whip? New toys for the dependable steed?

Not the fella you're looking for, but I ran a set of their alloy spoked wheels for a while and they were noticeably stiffer than a similar steel-spoked wheel I was running just before I got them. The spoke cross section is huge compared to steel, so more stiffness. Honestly, I liked the feel...

Guerrilla Gravity, badass frame manufacturer in Colorado

My intent isn't at all to minimize what y'all are doing - it's absolutely bad ass and definitive step forward. Was more just curious about what's feasible now in terms of what the reused/salvaged material can be turned into, and glad to hear that continued improvement to the process is a priority.

Guerrilla Gravity, badass frame manufacturer in Colorado

I caught that too, and I'm not sure he is representing things totally accurately. My understanding (which may be totally wrong) is that the thermoplastic polymer can be separated from the carbon fiber more easily than the epoxy-based thermoset resin, which I believe has to be burned...

    Battle of the crabonz

After a pretty bonkers amount of research, I'm slowly landing on the new NOBL TR37 wheels. They're an incredibly good deal, and NOBL seems like a great company to deal with. Not only do their new rims seem to take a page from the Crank Brothers philosophy of a tuned system (different front and...

    Battle of the crabonz

I'm looking at 29, internal width ideally between 28-30mm. I'd rather not go any wider than 30mm, but been running 29 and 30mm for the last while and happy enough with them.

    Battle of the crabonz

Super helpful, and perhaps another reason to consider Reynolds more seriously then. The Reynolds would drop 1-1.5 pounds off of my current wheels most likely. I know that the WAO wheels aren't super light by any means, but I don't need super light...even light-ish will be great. I've done some...

    Battle of the crabonz

Yeah I caught that one too, Barelli very nearly spilled the beans on that front. The We Are One wheels are the most tempting, mostly because with I9 hubs they're fully made in Nurth Amuricah. The Reynolds have some good pricing options for me and come with I9 hubs, CX-Ray spokes...but, I know...

    Battle of the crabonz

I've been using my beefy enduro bike on some longer rides, and while I was thinking about sinking some money into a trail bike for the coming year, I'm thinking instead that I'll try to lighten up my enduro bike in some sensible ways. One of those ways that I'm considering is through carbon...

Full face helmet for Enduro and DH??

Agree with all the others here on not compromising safety for breathability. I had a pretty scary crash up at Whistler a couple of years ago in a brand-spankin-new 100% Aircraft. Riding in a full-on downpour and lost my front end suddenly while going about 15-20mph just before the rock step down...

    Long bikes are... bad???

I'm 6'1, and I rode a Transition Sentinel at 480mm reach, now a Banshee Titan with 470mm reach. I was worried about the reach on the Titan at first so opted for a 50mm stem and low rise bars, but honestly it has felt comfortable since day 1. I just upgraded the fork to an Ohlins RXF36 m.2, which...
