    Roll-ins

Coming back to this topic after many years, and having ridden quite a few more spots.... I'm of the opinion that a longer flatter roll-in that you can actually crank down produces the overall fastest speed. This is an example of a 12 foot tall 60 degree roll-in with minimal transition at the...

    Roll-ins

This is a roll-in for a dirt jump line at Highland Bike Park. Note how the roll-in platform is much taller than the jump.

    mtb magazine not understanding DJ

I know this review of the Transition BLT is a few years old, but I just came across it and thought the "traditional mountain bike perspective" of a DJ-MTB with BMX aspects was interesting. https://mbaction.com/home-page/bike-test-transition-blt BIKE TEST: TRANSITION BLT July 14, 2015 The...

BB hight, top tubes, bar hight, and yur lower back?

Time to start doing physical therapy, yoga, etc. And consider riding bigger wheels--not that you have to, just that there's only so tall your 20" setup can be (10" bars, spacers, top load stem), where it starts to wack out the geometry, and it makes more sense to have a proportionally bigger...

    Roll-ins

Highland MTB Park, NH note how much taller the roll-in is that the first jump. (it's in the back of the pic and you can see the rider standing on it). you can't have a roll-in that is only 6 feet tall and expect for it to generate enough speed without cranking.

    25" standard.

I was thinking about this again because of another thread. So, a 26" MTB rim has a beat seat diameter of 559mm. A true 25"er (imagining the same height of tires) would therefore be 559mm - 25.4mm = 533.6mm. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html The traditional sizing systems are...

    Roll-ins

The rollercoaster thing has got me thinking. Maybe the Mega Ramp should use a parabolic roll-in, instead of a circular-tranny--flat-bank--circular-tranny like they have always done.

    the redesign of this site a while back. . . . .

I know it's old news. But, the re-design of this site a while back (a year or two ago or more!?!?) makes me hate it. I used to post regularly, with quality posts. Ridemonkey used to be better than pinkbike and mtbr. Now it's not. I wonder how many other people left the site because of...
