New Granny Gear 24 Hour race

Somebody say solo? They do have one particularly nasty climb that they can throw in, but probably not. They dropped it from the course after the 1st race. It's a good series to race for the pre-season and it's close to home.

Guess I'd better get back on the training bandwagon. :thumb:

    Frame choice for Endurance Events

Hardtail vs FS. It's a tough call, but for endurance racing, you can't beat the comfort of a good, light FS XC bike. It's so much easier on the body than spending 24 hours on a hardtail. Indieboy is right about the steel hardtail thing being more comfortable compared to an aluminum, but not as...

    Midget's Trail Running Thread

I do both quite a bit and have had incidents with both while doing the other. Wow, I just confused myself. I'll be on a run and some knucklehead mt biker will come right up on me without a "behind you," or I'll be ridin and some runner will come running up a predominantly one way downhill to...

    Energy Drinks

Whatever you do, DON'T buy "tangy orange Endurox." I mistakenly got some this week and as soon as I drank it, I wanted to vomit. This was after a 58 mile ride, when I really needed it. :eviltongu :nono:

Week and a half to go

I'm ready to get this thing over with and to see if my training has paid off. We're doing 60 miles tomorrow in the Cuyamaca/Laguna Mts. Should be fun.:( :help: :nopity:

Just curious. What are your other habits?

Isn't it documented somewhere that a man thinks about sex once every thirteen seconds? That would make it an all day long hobby, indoors or out.

    Question for Winners regarding HRM

While training, use the HRM to make sure your riding at the right level to meet your daily goal, i.e. recovery, lactate threshold, etc.. While racing, just go by the amount of pain your in. :monkey:

Anyone had any experience with thermogenic supplements?

As for health risks, I fully agree that they are there. It's only a matter of time before the FDA steps in and removes this stuff from the shelves.

How many hours a week do you train?

I ride 6-10 hours and run 4-8 hours a week, then throw in some pull-ups/push-ups, dips, and abs.

Idyllwild - Hurkey Creek Ride Video

Man, that brings back memories from last year's race. I'm the same guy that posted on Soul Cycles forum as MikeGarritson. The video kicks a$$. Did you use some sort of helmet mount or a lipstick cam attached to a camcorder?

12 Hours of Climbing...I mean Snow Summit

I really want to do it, but I think it's at the same time as my Sedona trip. I'll check the dates again though. As for BB being hot this weekend, it was mid 90's. The heat didn't bother me though, it was the six miles of climbing on my singlespeed at a cadence of 20. Did you climb up the...

12 Hours of Climbing...I mean Snow Summit

Man, what a way to spend 12 hours! I saw somebody in an RM t shirt, but I was just starting the race so I couldn't say hey. I also read about shocktower's wreck and pissed off wife; sorry and heal quick. The course was literally 80% climbing/20% downhill. I don't think there were any flat...
