Well it's been a while. Still at it been riding my 5th generation 2 shock bike the last 2 years. My focus has shifted from DH to Enduro.
This latest configuration has felt the best so far, been toying with idler pulley.
Have learned quite a bit from this latest version and the one that came...
Howzit Bro,
According to my family its still in recovery mode, unless you have a personal guide I would stick to the beaten path if you decide to visit. That said the off road riding is quite a unique experience pending where you go on the island, however a lot has changed since the hurricane...
Dont no if this helps? Ages ago I did a C-dale training camp & noticed that Myles had an aluminium rear end on his DH rig, at that time carbon was speced on some of the other rigs rear ends they had in line up that year. I asked him why he did not run carbon on rear end of DH rig? He told me...
Looking at current wind tunnel info on latest TT rigs I dont see any skinny steel aero tube bikes. Most are carbon, very expensive. Curious to see how much drag well made round tube steel bike has compared to latest crop of TT rigs. Talk about bad joke to consumers if all this time round skinny...
With disc brakes UCI legal in cx just a matter of time that it trickles down into DH specific Rd.( Heras experimented with DH specific Rd. wheels built by Head that were xtra heavy, switched bikes at top of climb) bikes for grand tours or even some spring classics. Will be abit before brake...
A better fabricated version of Girvin with latest shock tech for xc application could be intresting. Thinking outside of box, replace Girvins rigid fork blades with telescopic sliders for small to medium hits. Have traditional top shock & linkage set up for G outs with that rearward swing thrown...
inspired by Matt's bamboo rig had to make one for myself. i call it my pie bike:D.
Rear end is bamboo wrapped in flax for xtra strength. Hacked out dropouts and brake arch from old crunched frame.
frame wieght: 4.5lbs test bike, lets see how long it will last:eek:.
I have said this before, Aaron's rig should be on display at Te Papa museum next to Britten's. Both are great examples of Kiwi icons way ahead of there time! Carbon revolution cemented with the roadies, most high end xc rigs are carbon, now its trickling into DH like it or not. I predict bamboo...
Throttles intoxicating:rofl:
Electric abit cost prohibitive still to make a rig that can handle offroad abuse, but not far off. Be cool to replace Lahar gearhub with electric hub, that could be sick.
Plenty of time to work on funds:D. Working on website to showcase available stock, prices, & specific info on bamboo as alternative bike frame material. Cost of environmental impact to earth is alot less compared to carbon footprint other bikes leave behind. Most people dont realize bamboo is...
Devin is a really cool guy to deal with! If you get a chance to hang with him in his factory you get a better idea as to how much labor goes into his bikes. When there is better tyre & rim choices for 29" dh specific stuff, things could get intresting!
Would be cool to see pics of 29" dh...
Here is some action footage from bamboo bike training camp.
Footage of I- drive in action is non eventful, trail riding. Learned some new curing methods at camp that will work better for dh, slopestyle rigs made from bamboo. Got an order for hardtail 4x bike from Jamas Stiber, #7 at 4x pro...
thanx for the vid spornographer, the trek does not double compress. if you have a close look at the video the bottom shock mount floats in same direction as top shock mount. close, but what i mean by double compression is that the shock mounts compress both ends of shock towards each other...
Couldnt of said it better mysefff:thumb: Cant belive some of the crap that these corprate idiots put out for the sake of $. There is definetly something special with DC floating shock rigs thats worth exploring. The one I monster garaged with concentric bb pivot was exceptionally smooth thru...
