Since we do not get too many new dh frames anymore, it's a welcome surprise to see the new glory taking shape and looking ready for production. If they get the price right, we may finally have another worthy platform for the budget conscious racer. The old aluminium glory was a real workhorse...
Been on a clipless shoe shopping spree recently and as far as i can tell, the LEATT models are what you should be looking at. They put the channel really far back.
Can anyone who´s running the new Contis comment on how the different carcass constructions compare to Schwalbe Super Gravity? Is the conti downhill comparable to SG?
Check out the LEATT and FOX offerings.
I have the Leatt Chest 4.5 and it covers a good bit of the ribcage area. The 6.5 covers even more. The Fox Airframe Pro offers full wraparound protection.
Personally i´m very happy with the Leatt 4.5.
It is super comfortable and unobtrusive while riding...
So i got one park day done with the protector and so far it seems totally legit. Adhesive is strong, albeit that i do of course not have long term experience with it, and there is no visible damage done to the silicone after one day. Function is also great. The pads are rather soft, but can´t be...
Been on MT7 for about 6 years. No issues at all. No squealing, no pad rub, no inconsistencies.
One thing i found is that the aftermarket levers make a big difference in how the brake feels.
Blew up the membrane cause i´m dumb and didn´t focus during a quick and dirty parking lot pad replacement...
I´ll report back once i have it in hand. Likely won´t be able to give it a proper test before next season though.
I went with the thick cubed one and the one with the slim pads. I´m curious how effective the smaller pads will be. If they provide enough damping, that one might look pretty slick.
So i bought some of the aliexpress "COOMA" EX Plus brakepads for my MT7 and i gotta say, so far i really like them.
No weird sounds, they even stay silent when wet. Power is at least on par with the standard Magura pads (or maybe slightly higher), which have always been enough for me on the dh...
In my humble opinion, on a dh bike, if you´re not running an insert you´re kinda sabotaging your ride experience.
For me they´ve been a game changer. Haven´t flatted in years. I run Procore in the front because it gives a much more precise feel than cushcore and guarantees i don´t burp or roll...
You mean the ones all the worldcup wrenches use?
Those are made by Beta and yes, they put all others to shame. The fit is incredibly precise. Absolutely love mine.
Are the logos printed on? If so and if the rim is anodised and not painted, simple paint stripper will do the trick. I used it to remove the decals off of my (non Spank) rims. Acetone will work as well, but it´s more work.
Due to reoccuring problems with my wrist, which according to my doctor are simply weak to hyperextension, i´m in the market for a comfortable brace. I know i have a bad habit of overflexing my wrist during dh riding and my current TLD brace greatly enhances my riding ability and comfort. It is...
I tried a bunch of different elbow pads recently and the tight forearms seems to be a common occurence for me as well. There´s something off about how they design those things...
7idP Sam Hill
Gamechanger. If they fit your arm, they´re stupid comfy, have an actual Level 2 rating, are very light and they do not slip at all during riding. I always used to laugh at reviews that claimed a protector was "barely noticeable", but in this case i´ll say it myself. Feels like...
Well, apparently Daprela has re-smashed his face on the roadgap and has been "bleeding everywhere".
I guess that reaffirms our theory about riding dh with your tongue cut in half :fie:
