who the hell throws a bike in the first place? i would never throw my own bike, let a lone somone elses, and if someone threw my bike i would bet the hell out of them, no questions asked.
fox launch pads, there not the most comfortable at first, but once you wear them in you dont even notice, and taking a pedal full force to the shin feels like nothing.
the new TS-2 should be able to handle dh wheels, they made it bigger in the last couple years, you can now true 29ers to 12in, and 150 and 20mm. that said i wish my shop had one, we have the old ones and i have to take tires off anything thats bigger 700X1.95 or dh tires :(

the problem with a hitch mounted rack (especially on something as small as a mini) is that it throws your suspension off and makes the car drive funny.
a bmx will work but you have to carry a wrench everywhere you go (unless you have a QR front wheel :panic: ) and there are definently 20mm adapters that will work, but you still need to take your wheel off first.
the 594 side arm trays are a little better if you carrying bmx and 20mm bikes...
who cares, just get an avid five lever and be done with it, if you break it buy another there only like $10. if you wanna get fancy about it get a spedial five, there about $5 more
i would say that it sounds like your average bike company gimik but if thats what you need get it.
new bearings are a good idea.
riding on it hard for a long time will probably cause some damage to your hub body. i dont think riding around town would be bad but i wouldnt, just wait it out, go...
