Thanks guys! I'm finding the 'get off the brakes' to be especially helpful. I carried a lot more speed the other night by laying off the brakes and whereas before I'd get thrown off-line and then over-correct and wipe, my momentum carried me over the obstacles, I maintained my line better, and I...
Since no bikes are out yet, I was wondering what people thought of the design. The chainstays appear to be really high with the new design.
I wonder why they abandoned their TNT in favor of the DW (obviously because they think it works better - but is there proof in the public domain?)...
A hole in the TOPS of your shoes? I would love to see how you pedal a bike!
What's said above is right on. If you stick with your current frame, I would't go higher than 80mm on the suspension. An older 63mm would probably work better as your frame wasn't designed for the higher front end...
Is there an easy way to equate gear ratios between different wheel sizes. I'm looking for a simple rule of thumb, not a forumula. If I'm running a 34 up front on a 26" and a 32 up front on a 29", what cogs would give the same ratio on back for both? Or better yet, any way to simply...
Why is fall your favorite time to ride .... and why is this in the 29'er section? Do you only bring out the 29'er in the fall? (For that bigger contact patch on wet, leaf-strewn, slippery-rooted trails?)
From my name, you can tell my favorite thing to do is ride up hill. Going down hill is where I run into difficulty. I was getting pretty good at coming back down and I was finally staying in contact with my downhill friends when I took a nasty spill and tore myself up pretty good. After the...
I'll probably get flamed for this, but brands don't matter. Find the frame/bike that fits you and your riding style and is affordable to you. Go out, ride the hel1 out of it and enjoy it. Rinse and repeat. If it breaks, warranty it and/or get a replacement. Brands only matter to the other person...
Agree with r464.
I can recommend a Redline Flight Monocog 29'er. I'm running it SS, and it can handle anything. And, with the steel frame and long fork, it feels like I have 1-1/2" of suspension.
