I'm the "teammate".
We both normally race DH on real DH bikes - and trust me - we both wished we had them. Thing is - to fly from Utah to VT ended up being WAY cost prohibitive to bring 2 bikes and I figured (depending on the course) I had a better chance of doing well in Super D, so...
I have a pair of Sombrio shorts - they're the cutest shorts I've ever seen. I got them big enough that they just fit over my butt, but the waist tabs don't cinch quite tight enough to make the waist small enough for me. So yeah - the normal syndrome of too tight in the butt, too big in the...
Uh... yeah. That's not the problem. I can see all the pictures on the left, there just aren't any links for me on that page except for the 4 buttons across the top.
But the second link works for me.
How much are prints?
I clicked on the link and it said to click on the photos on the left for more information but I wasn't getting any links... Maybe I'm confused.
Very cool stuff though! I love the blue bike one.
I voted 3, but now that I think about it, there were more...
1. 9 stitches on the front of my ankle.
2. 20 some stitches on the back of my ankle/calf.
3. x-rays on my right hand, which was swollen to about twice it's size and half purple, but turned out to just be bruised.
4. x-rays on...
It's a lot of trial and error.
It might help to go to a specialized dealer - they have a little thing to measure the spacing on your butt bones. Many of the Specialized saddles come in three widths so you can find the appropriate one.
I personally have found that I don't like a lot of...
To me the key things to look for would be a nice steel rigid frame (obviously one that fits you well), and something preferably with horizontal dropouts so you don't have to run a chain tensioner. Not that it's that big of a deal, I just think it's nicer that if you're going to ditch the...
I've had 4 knee surgeries and I'm sick of being hurt, sick of spending 6 months at a time doing nothing but rehab. And I've gone through stretches where I didn't want to race DH anymore. It just didn't seem worth it.
So this spring I bought a rigid SS and have been riding more than...
Just FYI. It bothered me too. I emailed them and said something about that I bet they're the same guys wondering why more women don't ride... think about the message you're sending here. They emailed me back promptly, removed the quote from the site and apologized.
If one of my friends emailed it to me or told it around the campfire - yeah - it's funny. But on their website? I think it's just stupid. Lots of things that are funny are completely unprofessional.
Putting it on their website was just plain stupid. Considering one of the main...
Yikes. Very scary. One of my friends separated her shoulder there and another broke his hand, which will require surgery.
Really hope she's doing well. I do have a moto rated fullface for racing DH. I landed on my head once with my Bell fullface and temporarily lost part of my...
I have a DH bike (El Cuervo), trail bike (AS-X) and a rigid SS.
I do like the real DH bike geometry on race courses, and it's more forgiving. If you can only get one, I'd certainly get something more all purpose and do your regular trail riding and racing on it. There's no reason you...
We were planning to go - have the condo reserved and all - but my husband got a new job and now would only have the 3 days off of work. 12+ hours driving each way... and he decided to bail. I've heard it's a really fun course, so that's a bummer. :(
I would say ditching the underwear will be a HUGE improvement. Don't even worry about the rest of the ideas here unless you've got your saddle at a funky angle or something, just try your riding shorts they way they were meant to be worn and see if that doesn't solve it for you.
I definitely concur with making sure your saddle is level, but I don't know about the FS. I went out this spring and the first ride of the year was on Porcupine, on my AS-X. 7" of plush travel, but my back hurt from a recent car accident and I sat more than I should have. My butt felt like...
Just thought I'd post an update -
After two rides, I did change my gearing to 32-16, and I LOVE it. There are a few spots here and there that I have issues with and have to walk on our local trails, but for the most part - I am having more fun climbing than I ever thought possible...
I just got my first SS. It's currently a 34-16, which I think is going at least to a 32-16, but it was still really fun to ride this weekend. I wouldn't worry about it to start with - just go test it out and have fun!
Thanks! Yeah, I went a little nuts with the SS. I was thinking... oooh, I'll shop for a cheap used SS for my first one. And then I saw that one, with the pink chris king and thomson and juicy brakes.... I have no self control.
But dang it's fun to ride! They're all fun to ride! :D
