I get this sort of feeling all the time, a change just feels natural and fine and you think 'yeah this feels different but whatever' and then you go back to your old setup and holy shit it feels bad. I have had this with bar width, suspension setup, fork offset and wheel size. It's nice to go...
Yeah nah, fuck that. I struggle to ride at anything above alloy 25°c and struggle to exist at 35.
We can pretty much ride year round here but the gondola closes from May to September and there are certainly no downhill races.
Sorry, Brosnan.
I have 3 pairs of the Demo shorts, they are great, though they could taper a bit more at the bottom. Might get the wife to do a quick sewing job on one pair and see what I can achieve there. They are light, stretchy, vented and long. The pants are just as good if not better...
I really thought that specialized dropped the ball with the DH kit they made for Troy when he rode for them. They made him a load of different kits one year, he was in a different one every race. They could easily have done a limited run of a few different variations and I'm sure they would have...
Man I am jealous of you northern hemisphere dwellers right now, I mean skiing is coming and that's all good but I have really enjoyed racing dh this summer, I'm going to miss that over the next 6 months.
I'm running an xx1 11 speed setup on my xc bike, it is nicer than any of the 12 speed stuff I have ridden, both SRAM and shimano, and that includes high end 12 speed.
Yeah, I generally recheck after installing a tyre.
These wheels got a lot of abuse, bike park laps and downhill racing (until I bought my dh bike a bit over a year ago)
The spokes, sometimes at the nipple, sometimes at the head, I think it's even happened in the middle of the spoke but that's rare.
I think the first load of spokes lasted 2 years, then I rebuilt, then I had to rebuild again on to boost hubs, those spokes only lasted a few months as the nipples...
DT comp, 32 in both wheels, like I say, the spokes seem to last about 2 years begot they start to fail. I think the mega stiff rim probably just puts more force on the spokes and leads to failure.
Yeah, that's the issue, they only make ultrasoft in SG and SD casing.
Maybe I just need to suck it up and run super gravity front as well. It's a bit heavier but grip is nice, especially in the cold wet winter.
I've always liked the dhr2, the 2.3 is a bit of a joke but the 2.4 is fine, my only issue with it is I need DD casing and can only get that with Max Grip rubber, which is too slow rolling and fast wearing for me.
Hopefully the Big Betty is what I have been looking for all along.
I guess that...
Interesting, even for a trail bike that I pedal a decent distance on? A ride here might include 800-1000m of vert and I need to ride a few km in and out of town on the road as well.
I have a spare ultra soft MM in SG casing so I guess I can give it a shot and see what I think.
Yeah, there are some classic old races for sure, Sam Hill Val Di Sole or Danny Hart Champery, but like you said, Amaury at Les Gets was another so the nuts runs are still happening, and let's not forget that not all the races from 10 years ago created classic runs that you'd want to go back and...
Sorry, I should have been clearer in my question, where does addix soft sit in comparison to 3c maxx grip and max terra? I'm hoping it's somewhere between.
I am looking forward to giving the BB a go. I ordered one for the trail bike and one for the dh bike.
I have been running ultrasoft MM...
I got a Lyrik RC2 on my new bike and to be honest I don't think the damping is as good as the grip 2 or Fox RC2 dampers I had previously. I can't seem to get the same level of support from this one without bringing on too much harshness.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad damper, but I have to...
So we have gone from laughing at me for saying the tracks haven't changed dramatically to saying that the lines have changed a bit...
And then talk about Les Gets, I know the track is different from the old one back in the day but open taping down ski pistes isn't exactly a new thing in...
29er dh bikes hit the world cup in 2017, what has changed dramatically in the 4 seasons that they have been racing them?
I'm not saying world cup tracks are all great but blaming 29ers for it seems pretty silly to me. We had shit tracks 20 years ago and we still have them now, just like good...
