I wanna try to do a short ride on the north side of the lake on Friday, but can't tell if the trails (Hanna Flats and Gray's Peak) will be covered in snow. Anybody know?
I just got a new position with my company and will be relocating to our San Diego office at the end of this month. Where should I ride in San Diego? I'll be living somewhere in North County, and I know almost nothing about the area, but my impression is that I have to head east into the desert...
I'm gonna be in the Lake Shasta/Redding area with some friends in a couple weeks and am thinking of bringing my trail bike because I've heard rumors of good riding near Whiskeytown. Anybody been there and have recommendations? Planning to ride early morning to beat the heat, probably not looking...
And if so, how are they? Good? Bad? Powerful enough? Any issues with fade? I'm 185 lbs with gear and am not the fastest or most aggressive rider in the world.
The cage DOES have tension, but it feels like a normal non-clutch derailleur. There's no resistance like you would expect from the so-called clutch gizmo.
Just installed a brand new XO Type 2 short cage rear derailleur, and the clutch mechanism doesn't seem to work. I can get the gears to skip around when bunny hopping out on the street, and when in the stand, there is not much resistance when I push forward on the cage (feels like a non-clutch...
Is it possible to be so well-educated in a specific field that you actually become dumb by real-world standards?
Obviously this thread title is exaggerated and the answer is no, but I just moved into a house with a bunch of current and former Stanford grad students and they are driving me...
Looking for thoughts and feedback on Havoc 35 bars and stem. I'm intrigued by the light weight and added stiffness. Anybody using it? Is it a worthwhile upgrade? Or will it just make me realize that my front wheel and fork are flexier than I thought? I found favorable reviews on Vital and Bike...
The Santa Cruz website only recommends a max of 140mm up front, but putting a 150mm fork on the bike could make it a lighter, lower, nimbler alternative to the Nomad. Anybody tried this?
I swapped from a 38 to a 36 (on a 12-27 cassette) this past summer and was glad I made the switch. I found I wasn't using all of my gears with the 38 tooth. With the 36 I can utilize the full range of my cassette. Plus I gained more ground clearance.
I've used both GoPro and Contour extensively, and I have to say I prefer GoPro in almost every way. It's waterproof, has more mounting options, it's cheaper, captures better footage, light and sound adjustments are all automatic, the parts on the housing are all replaceable, plus it has the cool...
Roached my X.9 rear derailleur today and need a new one before the weekend - anybody in the Bay Area got one they can sell me? New or used, doesn't matter. Just needs to be Sram, 9-speed, and a short cage. And preferably cost less than $60...
I live on the peninsula, near San Mateo.
Lemme...
Having some issues with chainring bolts that are a bit on the short side - they'll tighten down, but there's very little thread engagement, which caused the threads on one of the bolts to strip out last night when I attempted to install a new chainring.
I know the bolts are measured in lengths...
