They posted a comment on Facebook yesterday stating:
Sounds like they have been making a few changes, and a bit of progress.
Don't loose faith! Building a frame/fork for 22 is one thing, but getting the rims and tires made must be a pain in the butt. I still give 'em a big ole :thumb:
I finally got my new wheels built. Just some Velocity Taipans and Stolen brand Odyssey clones, but they are soooo much better than the stock Quandos. Also went with a 11T driver and 28T Tree spline drive.
Tires look like Faction, but the rims look more like the Velocity Taipans that have been going around. I'm guessing that the only thing Faction on this one are the tires.
It does look pretty gosh darned sick though! :D Very modern looking bike.
How are you guys liking those Taipans...
My Zeitgeist is 21" center-to-center too.
Here's a gif animation comparing a '95 Mongoose Expert and a Zeitgeist. (It may take a bit to load.) The Mongoose top tube measures 20" center-to-center. One of these days, I'd like to do another comparison with a Holmes...
Thanks man.
I plan on trying some dirt jumping again using this. My first outing on the small beginner table-top jumps went OK on my 20" Dirtbike, but it felt really squirly and I busted kinda hard towards the end. I'm hoping the 22" will be a bit more stable for me.
I added this bike to...
Are you leaving a little bit of a gap between the top of the steer tube and the top of the stem? Like this:
If not, you won't be able to tension it properly. When tightening, it should be as loose as possible, but with no movement or "slop" of the steer tube.
Or maybe you have some...
Those headset types are incompatible. To use an integrated headset, the head tube must be machined to accept the bearings. The Zeitgeist head tube was designed to accept cups for a standard (old-style) head set. The bearings from an integrated headset are actually a little bigger than...
I'm considering a quick release seat post clamp. I intend on using the bike to learn dirt jumping, but it will also be a rider. A quick release clamp seems like a good solution for flexibility.
I will likely have the seat pretty low when jumping, so slipping shouldn't be that big of a...
Yep, I heard back from Keith. Nice guy, lots of passion for the 22 and bikes in general. He answered all my questions.
The general release of the Amero and the new 36 spoke wheelset is still a few months out, and will be a bit out of my price range.
As it turns out, a Zeitgeist owner...
OK, I think my e-mail went to him specifically (I hope).
I may try Facebook if I can't get a reply through e-mail. But I tend to limit Facebook friending to personal friends.
I already sent them an e-mail with a few initial questions. I'm waiting for a reply before I send more questions. In the mean time, I'm trying to better educate myself. :)
