RM Contractors / Patio installation help

I was going to say that if you're on expansive soils then it wouldn't be a bad idea to presaturate the subgrade prior to laying down the aggregate base. That way, when the subgrade picks up moisture (and it will) it will already be in the expanded condition. Johnbryanpeters has a good idea...

Quitting my job with my verbally abusive boss today. Have a feeling that much yelling including character attacks and degrading comments will ensue. Oh well, here goes!

You're right. Optical illusion or something. I see now that the logo keeps moving

    How TO ride a bike

That move where he rode down the rock face instead of down the stairs next to it was pretty cool. I don't get what he's doing at 4:42. Did he intentionally lock up the rear wheel when manualling through the rocks? (honest question)

XO Trail Caliper and Elixir CR Lever?

Just got off the phone with SRAM (after talking to the shop I used to work at) and apparently the Elixir and XO Trail pairing should work just fine. If not, they sell a conversion kit that will change the set from tool-less reach adjust to tooled (getting rid of the adjustment knob).

XO Trail Caliper and Elixir CR Lever?

Has anyone given this combo a try? I'm an avid braker so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's the situation: Have an older pair of Elixir CR's. Scored a pair of take off XO Trail World Cups (no bite point adjustment, tool less reach adjustment knob hanging out the inside of the...

    Flat Resistant Tires?

I haven't been doing as much bicycle commuting as I used to but when I was commuting daily, the armadillos never let me down. My experience was that the rubber and tread would wear down before I got a flat. I think they'd be similar to what you'd be doing with a set of liners (like Mr. Tuffy's...

Easton Haven Carbon 29er wheels on Chainlove for the next 15 min

Seem like a really good price for carbon rimmed wheels from a reputable manufacturer. Hope this helps someone out (I am still on my archaic, 26", aluminum rimmed wheels).

    XC shoes

Agreed. I've never been able to justify the money on a set of Sidis but have tried Shimano's and Pearl Izumi's. The Shimano's were alright. The Pearl Izumi's had some outsole separation issues (this is 5, 10 years ago, things may have changed since then) prior to them changing to a narrower...

    Drop the big ring?

I think your rule of thumb stiff holds true with one caveat, you should check to make sure the suspension doesn't pull on the chain as you cycle through the suspension. Also, I've run 2 rings in the front with a long cage rear der and it works fine but if you're trying to quiet things up, a mid...

    new brake mount standards?

Isn't is just post mount? On my 5 Spot which is post mount, I just took off everything except the CPS washers (that is assuming a 160mm rear rotor)

    Time for my first console

The Uncharted series has a really fun story line. I wouldn't call it "epic" but it is fun to watch the story unfold through each game (and the cinematics are pretty awesome IMO).

    Time for my first console

I bought my PS3 on a whim a long time back and have been very happy with it. They continually expanded (not so much lately) the capabilities with firmware updates and it does a lot of stuff (streams, surfs [albeit mediocre-ly], plays games, plays online for free [which to me is worth more than...

    Is the Horst link dead?

End your search now.... Ellsworth Dare! ... i think i remember my Truth having an FSR sticker on there (before I got wise to the marketing hype, lack of standover and propensity for breaking)... or did they circumvent it by using a bunch of other patented letters?

    any pandora using monkeys?

I like Groove Shark when I want to hear a specific song but have found that their radio algorithm (or whatever they use to guess your musical tastes) isn't quite as good as Pandora's.

    Qr15

This carnage is pretty crazy but I'm guessing (based on the number of loose front wheels on the ground) that this could have been avoided if they were using QR15 wheels...
