Its always a good idea to keep some quality parts around in case you need them for a build. Sometimes I have to plan 7 to 10 years in advance. Or fire up the time machine to make a quick parts grab. ;)
I tried to but he insisted that I paypal as a gift (I at first did send it as a regular payment and included extra to cover the fee), but he refunded that. I asked for his info and where he was shipping it from, but he would not provide me with that information. So that was enough to pass on it.
"Split Pivot's lawyers argued that it should not have to pay any costs because the company was indigent and would be bankrupted if forced to pay. The court rejected that argument, saying a bankruptcy court could deal with it, if it comes to that."
At least they don't have to pay the $318,000...
They were the team bikes for Ironhorse before the Sunday came out and Ironhorse didn't have any dh race worthy machines. One of the DR-1 bikes I have had the Ironhorse livery on it when I got it. The designer of the Profile downhill bikes was killed in an accident not long after the bikes came...
They are standard length, but note the low coil count compared to other ti springs. They both have a large inside diameter so they fit larger body shocks like Avy, etc.
He may have very few if any left. I don't see it listed as an option on the site anymore. You can always email him at: craig@avalanchedownhillracing.com
I have some Avalanche (AVA marked) ti springs that are exactly the same as my Obtanium springs. They are within a few grams weight wise and exact same winding. The only difference is the finish. Craig may have had different suppliers over the years.
Titanium springs with that many coils to them are usually just as heavy as the steel spring. Good titanium springs have fewer coils. Its difficult to find high quality ti springs now.
The best ti springs were the original Obtanium springs, they has the lowest coil count, shortest free length...
I didn't get an exact weigh it yet, but its lighter than you'd think... probably around 37 lbs. The frame is on the hefty side, but most of the parts are relatively light.
