the v-drives are really fat in that area, and to get it to work I think I am going to have to remove a significant amount of material. I'm thinking about just cutting out that quarter of the guard.
Here's the problem, my new gamut poly bash won't fit on my old v-drive ISIS cranks. Should I trim down the bash, or has this weakened your gamut bash too much to be worth it?

I think the problem isn't simply that a bumper needs to be added; the stroke length needs to decrease such that it's done compressing when the bumper is done compressing. An extended bumper and uncorrected damper means the damper isn't doing all the work it should be at the end of the stroke...
FSA has done right by me last season on the dh bike and many seasons on the trail bike.
Because the bearings make up a large part of the overall cost, it makes sense just to get a fresh BB when it's worn out. That's how they're designed.
