Two broken ankles, a torn ACL, torn cartelidge, two broken arms and a broken wrist. Numerous thumb and finger dislocations. And all of those were from motocross - I started riding bikes 'cause I thought it was "safer" :D .

Me, I vote XT for the shifting, rear der and cranks. I like keeping the LX front der suggestion. And if you are doing discs, definately the XT's - less squeel and the calipers are more easily adjusted (no shims like on XTR). Hubs, if you want to do Shimano, XTR's due to the weight......Cassette...

Hey all y'all, whaddya think about a Reba for Dirt Jump use?
Will it be too light for a beginning Dirt Jumper? Will I twist it up the first time I come up short?
I have a hub that I want to build a wheel around (a Onyx QR, non-20mm) and want to avoid buying a hub.
Your expertise is...
Discs, a carbon frame and X.0 stuff will make it more appealing to theives....Unless you can take it inside w/ you and keep it in your sight all the time, I'd opt for a beater.

I put a K&N in my GTI and I also noticed an improvement in MPG.
But I do have to say the old paper element looked like someone tried to build a sand castle in it.
What an awesome way to spend the summer. We used to lake jump in college with 2 liter bottles (empty) or life perservers wrapped around the bars and top tubes..... :thumb:
