Gotta give a huge props to Sol Vista - their skills with building features and courses are impressive. Had a blast on the DH. Never thought I'd hit jumps that big, at that high of a speed, but the Amigos were built so well it was just a matter of trusting it and going. Smooth as butter...
Oh sick! Did they add C1 practice as well on Sat? I thought I'd only get the 2 hours on Friday, pretty stoked to see another 1.5 hrs before the race Sat. Whew...
12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Practice- DH- C1 (except 17-18 male) Amateur DH
ooooh and a 7AM-8AM Super D practice... nice. Although getting...
I think it's a sticker underneath the clearcoat. Can't remove it. I'll post some more pics when it's built up, currently have my white 40 and full cockpit set up, just gotta install the crankset/chainguide and she'll be ready! I'm rehabbing from knee surgery so I haven't been in a big rush. Hope...
Good topic Sean, and one I and a lot of my friends have been kicking around a while. I have an Intense SS, and while it fits the bill, is a bit much in the travel and weight category. I really want a "mountain bike" that I can build to around 27 lbs and just rally everywhere. Probably not chuck...
Mmmm good point. It's a tragedy I know, but I've never had Yuengling. Gotta love Magic Hat, Summit, Great Lakes, etc.
And FYI New Belgium makes some far better brews than Fat Tire.
And for the record, there are tons of guys out east who smoke me on a DH course anywhere. I'd be losing by a healthy margin in Cat 1/Am/Expert/whatever in eastern races as well...and that's OK. Leaves me plenty of room for improvement :)
Hahahahah this thread is hilarious. All in good fun ribbing each other eh?
Lepp - I've actually lived in the western US (Western, not just 'West Coast'...ahem) for the better part of 16 years, from CA to CO to UT, so no surprises for me in terms of the trails back west. I love it. I love the...
I think this is spot-on. Great point Chris.
Another factor I forgot to mention is the USAC license. Sport/Cat 2 tends to be really competitive in the Utah series b/c you have to have an annual license to race Cat 1. A day license gets you into Cat 2 or 3 only. At SS, you could just pick your...
I used to run the back plate under my Dainese spine protector no problem, but yeah then it'd stretch my jersey neck and make it choke my neck. Which sucked. Got the new Core Saver, popped off the top spine plate, and the brace fits perfectly right on top. Love it. No neck stretch, no problem.
This may actually hold some truth, I think fitness back west is in general higher than the east. It was pretty obvious in the general population when I used to fly back and forth from SLC to Ohio all the time. Of course that doesn't necessarily translate to mountain bikers - I'm positive the...
That's really the problem. I expected to be low in Cat 1, but my times are low-to-mid pack in Cat 2. Blah.
Oh and Transcend - generally true about slower, techier courses, but Snowshoe's courses last year were super fast western-style courses; I actually pulled away from a lot of my friends in...
First off the last thing I want to do is start a flame war between East and West. I am trying to figure out if the problems Ive experienced racing this year are due to a change of venue, or just a crappy rider (myself), heh.
Note: Im ONLY talking amateur fields here, not pros. The EC has...
Mine was a killer race sled, took 2nd in sport at snowshoe last year with it. Dug the bike but I had to consolidate the quiver and am now using my Demo 7 as my race bike for 09. The floating brake is incredibly good if you're getting a stiffening rear under braking.
Hah. Yeah, the bro-PR-brah speak is just awful. Could they try to sound any more 'legit' and fall flat on their faces?
spomer - I don't think they are saying that there haven't been legit online dealers before, but backcountry.com has a powerhouse infrastructure, that, if the site/product...
