Do eleven speed chains wear out notably faster than nine speed chains?

9sp are the worst of them all IMO. 10sp is the best. 8sp last really long but dont shift well. Ill never run a 9sp again if I have a choice.

Which Fox damper do I want?

With the confusion between FIT and FIT4, whats the good one? I need a 26" fork and all the 26" 36s listed are FIT which I thought was the crap one but now it looks like it might be reborn as the good one? They are also listed as "factory" vs "performance" which implies that the FIT is the...

    Piston removal on XTR caliper

Im posting this here because people here actually work on their bikes. On the m985 with the one piece caliper, there is a big cap that must be removed to get the pistons out. Has anybody found a tool to do this? It looks like a huge torx but its not. I have a leaky piston and Im trying to fix...

    2016 Uzzi

That bike looks gross. Im not sure why you would deal with pedaling a 190mm VPP bike uphill when there are so many great descending bikes with 150-160mm travel that actually pedal well. That suspension sucks going downhill too.

    Help me understand dropper posts

You're doing it wrong. The entire point of the dropper post is to get the seat out of the way so you can lean the bike without the seat hitting your leg. If you are using your leg to help turn the bike, you're doing it wrong and you should work on your technique. I say that with respect and...

    Western bike park roadtrip

Tis the season for summer vacation planning. I'll be driving from Seattle the Gunnison around the 1st of July. What parks are worth hitting. We went to Park City years ago and it was very underwhelming. My days to ride will be limited so I want to make them count. I might also be driving...

Seeking advice on my busted-ass bike

Are you new to bikes? I've broken new parts that were only hours out of the box and gotten a big FU from the company. Warranties aren't worth shit unless the company really wants them to be. Spec has a lifetime warranty? Just kidding? That only applies if you never ride the bike. It's right...

    Lightweight Seatpost/Saddle Combo

The SDG is the best setup going IMO. I tried the Pivotal setup for awhile. It is super cheap and super light. But, the angle adjustment is limited. Meaning, you end up with a really nose up seat unless your bike has a abnormally steep seat tube. Also, the seats are all dirt jump or bmx...

    Saint M820, stuck master cylinder

2 yo Saints. The master cyclinder won't return. I took everything apart and it definitely in the lever. Am I screwed? Everything I've found says they are sealed and you throw them away. I can't even find a lever for sale.

    '13 Turner DHR sizing/ reviews?

FWIW, I replaced my shock with an Avy earlier this year and have been very happy. Granted, there must be a significant placebo affect considering the price. But I have made zero adjustments out of the box and have literally never ridden another bike/shock that has felt this good. Mid travel...

New leaf-shaped tread pattern from Maxxis

Oh, that tire looks like ****. But the stepped design, I honestly think that could be the best thing ever for a do everything rear tire.

New leaf-shaped tread pattern from Maxxis

I really like the ant sized stairs. Imagine a High Roller with those instead of ramps. It would roll just as fast but would grip going forward too. Granted, the life wouldn't be good, but it would be a great tire. The Big Betty had a similar tiny sharp edge at the top of the ramped knob...

Any Avalanche Fork Cartridge for Marz 888 cr or Fox float X SSD mod user/reviews?

I would go for it. I bought a Avy shock for my DHR this year and have been very impressed. I haven't touched to stock tune at all and it feels really good. It's easy to get convinced it's awesome after spending so much money, but it really is the best shock I've ever felt. If I needed a...

    Stupid headset problem?

Was the headtube chamfered? Some facers/readmers have the chamfer built in but some do not. Without it the sharp edge of the headtube will interfere with the radius on the headset cup. You'll have to remove it to tell

Crisp Disc Brake, a slightly different take on the caliper, warning, Kickstarter Insi

Its not a new idea. I've got a huge pneumatic version sitting on my desk. I do like the idea of moving the piston away from the pads. Pretty much solves the hot fluid issue. And the protos look pretty good imo. And I do this for a living. Tig welded with the tools on hand. Obviously no...

What to wear under armor this summer?

Personally, UA is horrible. It's wet and clamy, and the materials are cheap. And judging by the Olympics, it actually makes you slower. Wool all the way. Once you ride in premium wool you'll never go back to wet, stinky plastic.

4130 Cromoly frame inner protection what to use

Linseed oil. Honestly, nobody really knows because nobody is actually doing double blind tests. Linseed oil does a good job of getting in all the spots and not making a mess. It's also cheap and easy to get and makes great spoke prep.
