Thought I'd get this thread going again.
Most of the rims I was looking into were between 30 and 32 mm wide. Just saw the Mavic 729 is 36? Thats really wide.
Anyway, what did you decide on BMCarter?
Thanks but, I'm probably going to get a hope hub. My fork is a quick release and I'll eventually upgrade to a through axle and Hope makes this real easy. For now I just want to keep this fork.
It's messy but, super easy with some kind of aircraft coating remover.

Just spray on one section at a time, wait a few minutes and peel off. Make sure to wear a mask and...
I just go my demo 8 frameset and the main linkage says alloy? My buddies bike says magnesium and on the spec website says it's magnesium.
I'm sure it doesn't really matter but, is it a weight or stiffness difference?
right on. Yeah. It's my first hard tail so, I don't have anything to compare it to. Love the geometry and it rails corners. I've only had it on pump tracks but, I'm hoping to do some dirt jumping soon.
Actually, it wasn't bad. I started with emery cloth but, that was before I found out that synthetic steel wool/scotch bright works much better. I also used my dremel tool with scotch bright tips to get in the small places.
Yeah, they are basically the same. I guess all the spacers go on the left side then. I suppose it all comes down to the chainlain and the cranks not hitting the frame.
Thanks cmc.
