Do I want an adjustable height seatpost?

I'm waiting until the Thomson post is out, but I'm definitely going to get one. Not that you should trust some anonymous person on the internet, but this blog post makes a good case: http://captainblacksox.wordpress.com/2012/09/12/dropper-posts-get-one/

New bike for this old man

I'll bite.... Shattered my collarbone riding my DH bike on August 2nd in Big Bear. Had a plate and bone graft put in on the 13th. Now I'm playing the waiting game for it to fully heal. I'll be starting passive motion of my shoulder tomorrow. Can't ride until at least October 3rd...

    This bike is rad

But then he'd have to use BB30 reducers (at least on this frame).

Looks quite interesting. Question: why a PFBB30 vs. regular BB30? Is it for ease of manufacture? Availability of PF30 shells?

Let's get your input abou this lawsuit.

I wonder if Speshy's decision to try and stop sales on Giro shoes has to do with the designer of Giro's shoes being the same guy who used to design shoes for Specialized. According to our Giro rep, Mike Sinyard and the shoe designer(I don't remember his name) disagreed about the 1.5 degree...

So I'm thinking about buying a road bike.

Don't buy a bike online. They tend to be a good value in terms of components, but the frames generally suck (cheap carbon) and you won't know whether it fits you or not until it's too late. And since you are just starting out, you don't know what you're and a geometry chart on a website will...

So... It looks like I'm racing road in the spring. Help me.

Here are a few tips I can think of off the top of my head: Do some group road rides before you race to get used to/comfortable in the pack. If you're near/at the front, be sure to call out road debris/turns/parked cars/etc. Wear bibs. Hold your line. If you're gonna move over in the...

'01 SID xc or '02 Duke XC?

Between those two, the Duke will serve you better. The Duke has 30mm stanchions vs 28mm on the SID, so it has a stiffer chassis that will track better through corners. The Duke most likely has more travel as well.

Home alone and tons of riding. Maybe too much?

The IT band is a piece of connective tissue that runs down the outside of your thigh and helps stabilize your knee. It can tighten up if it doesn't get stretched and can contribute to wobbly-knee syndrome in cyclists or pain on the outside of the knee in some cases.

Home alone and tons of riding. Maybe too much?

Since no one else has responded yet I'll give my semi-educated-but-still-a-stab-in-the-dark type guess. Earlier this year I was getting sore in that same muscle when my hours were up in preparation for some bigger races. I have fairly tight IT bands, and my guess would be that my...
