DT Swiss 240, hands down the best I have owned (owned quite a few over the years from King to Surly) extremely reliable, smooth, great engagement, light, etc. Well worth the investment.
I just finished building a new 29er last month. I love it, the big wheels rule! I ride 32:19 right now and have really liked the gear ratio. I could see running 32:18 during the season when the legs feel strong.
you can build the frame and if it breaks or you don't like it, use the parts for a new setup. i rock a 86 Romic frame and love it. i have never had a wheel move in the drops but i also have been riding SS and fixed for yrs so i have tightened down a few wheels in my time. any wheels/parts you...
bikes look good but the idea of fixed is to ride something simple and less dressed up. the pista frame is very generic so putting carbon cranks, fork, and high end parts on it seems silly to begin with. that bike would not last 5mins on a bike rack here before being stolen making it a less...
I have had nothing but good experience there. I deal with a few different shops (none of which are perfect) but I have had great service at Full Cycle and I started going there 4+ yrs ago.
One question to the original poster, if they almost had 03's in does that mean you purchased your bike...
Are there any CO SS'ers that want to get a small group together for rides? Open to any trails really but it's nice to take it off the beaten path once in a while.
I live on the front range so I can meet near denver or boulder. I am open to bigger rides in the mtns too as long as everyone is...
"and last but certainly not least, never mention this riding spot on the internet again."
sorry to those that don't agree but i am with instigator on this point. you have to earn your way into trails around here. trails are always being closed on the front range DH, XC, etc and i have seen...
If you don't want to drop the money for an ENO hub, you could get as close as you can and use the discos from the guys at offcamber. They may help if it's not too slack
http://www.offcamber.com/menu.htm just go to the site and look up the disco tab.
I can't wait! The course looks sweet. Takes me back to my East Coast roots in a literal way. Wonder if Travis is going to show up? Could be a good battle going on. It will be hard to just drop in from here (CO) and ride a totally different style trail but I can't wait. Hopefully the trail won't...
Disc on SS can be tricky with certain frames. As long as there is no possibility for movement your good which seems like the case as you can run gears on it.(?) I have never looked at a Chameleon up close. Is there a conversion you make with the drops when you go SS? Normal horizontal dropouts...
You really need to gear for your area. Why not try a 19 but go back to 18 if it gets too easy? I live in CO and ride a lot of high altitude steep trails but stick with 34:18 most of the time (yes there is pain involved at times). I have a 17 and a 19 cog that I can go to. 34:20 would is just too...
How was the course last year? They tried to clean up some of the sand a few yrs back but I doubt if their efforts were sustainable. The last time I rode it was the 2000 race. I got sick (several people according to the medical tent) eating from that lame unsanitary burrito stand. Made for a...
Sorry to hear that. In the 6 years that I have been in boulder, I have heard this story too many times. The bike theives that work this town are good and have a discerning eye.
My friend had a sweet custom bike stolen in 15 min's while he went to get some food at 11am by a busy store. Two...
I never looked close enough to the pro's to notice the lack of little ring. makes sense though.
I always rode 46or44/34/24 and loved it. I ride 34 on my SS and just really like it over 32t. ratios can be the same but the feel seems different but it could be in my mind.
"so pretty much...
