    Suspension debate about anti-squat

@ Socket: Have you ever tried a Canfield Bros Jedi F1 or Corsair Crown? If so, I'd like to read your take on those.

could this be a proto Elka Shock?

It is indeed a new version of our shock. This design is intended to prevent people from messing with the Schraeder valve and also to further reduce the weight. This new cap design also uses a new type of valve that is rated to withstand a higher pressure. It also prevents unauthorized servicing...

What's up with the Fox RC4?

Usual leverage ratios have traditionally been in the range of 3.2:1 down to 2.4:1 for most designs. Nowadays, we are seeing more and more designs with a ratio closer to 2:1, which is the most efficient ratio for a damper. To complete Socket's already good explanations, Elka has several rebound...

I can't explain any better than Socket did above.

What's up with the Fox RC4?

I love it when forum specialists explain how shocks such as the RC4, BOS, Double Barrel and Elka are either progressive or linear when they are all speed-sensitive dampers.

    Elka 5 Suspension

Luc, from what I read it could be that your shock has lost some nitrogen pressure. That would explain the slow rebound, the noise and the reduced low-speed damping. Try hooking up a shock pump on the valve and check what it reads. If it's anywhere below 140 psi that means that you either have...

    New Elka Suspension Website

Unfortunately, no. There is interference between the knobs and the x-braced linkage. Some riders have cut the brace to fit a shock but we don't advise to do so and will not sell shocks for that bike model.

    New Elka Suspension Website

As 1soulrider mentioned above, we are working on a special knobs kit that would allow the fitment on the DHR without requiring any modifications to the bike. For obvious reasons, we wouldn't want to sell any product that requires removing material from the frame or linkage.

Thanks for noticing, we are working on a revised version today, will be posted soon. We have a few units out for those but are still awaiting feedback to ensure the tuning is perfect before we release those to the public. They should become available in a few days/weeks.

The spacer is needed on some bikes if the rider wants to use their stock spring with our shock. It is mostly bikes using a stock Revox shock as the Manitou spring diameter is slightly large than ours. The spacer prevents the spring from moving sideways, which could cause it to rub against the...

    Elka 5 Suspension

FYI, all Elka shocks produced since October 27th are a new generation that got rid of the "squeaking" sound upon the beginning of the rebound stroke. Also, the sound was generated by turbulence in the oil flow upon the rebound stroke. Such a sound could not have been caused by the seals...

Corsair Maelstrom Hammer - Built and Ready to Ride - Review - Lets see your 09 FR Rig

Corsair bikes really are "connaisseur" bikes with so much involved in the design. I'm still drooling after mine after several weeks of riding it.

    Cannondale Judge in action (slo-mo)

His locked rear wheel prevents any good analysis of the shock setup but tells a lot about how brake bumps appear and grow.
