I'm at 6'3 so no I haven't gotten much taller but for the past two seasons I have been on a 24"tt bike with a short front-center so the long stem really helps. I actually ran a 70mm Thompson this season and will be on a longer bike this season and am hoping to find a 60mm integrated. Its just...
A 10mm stem difference isn't the same as 10mm more in frame length. A longer stem allows some of us taller riders (or anyone) to get over the front in a more aggressive position and weight the front wheel more effectively in corners.
I am all for a 60-65mm integrated stem. Their old one was...
None of the SDG saddles have a carbon "rail". They are some sort of composite with a "carbon" print.
I have run one in some shape or form for 3-4 years with zero failures.
Agreed, why would anyone find sponsoring top mountain bike pro's a profitable marketing scheme??? I hate having outside sponsors in our sport...it's so bad for our image. Plus it might even expand our sport!?!?
They definitely aren't the biggest bikes out there, but I'm 6'3 and have been happy on a large Izimu for the past two seasons. I run 30" bars and a 65mm stem which helps lengthen the cockpit. Those two changes are definitely something to consider...
Having competed in both, I am VERY excited to race the U.S. Open this year... But if I had one more year in Juniors, it would be a different story...
I take it Geoff is racing AF?
I think the obvious difference between pro's and joe's is their speed. For example, your standard rider (or even local pro) who's 5'11 or 6' will likely ride a 17" Sunday. Sam Hill on the other hand rode a custom frame that ended up being alot closer to a 19". He can't be more than 5'9 or 5'10...
Tire suggestions anyone? I've never been in that type of terrain...
I've got a few 2.7 Minion DHFs and a 2.5 highroller. Not exactly ideal... Will I benefit from less rolling resistance in the rear with the highroller on that track?
