i was putting on a 10sp chain today, and was made aware that the chain should be oriented such that where the master pin is, the inner links need to be pulling.

without thinking too hard, my guess is that it has to do with the surface area pullng and the stability of the inner links versus the outer plates. is that correct? if now, anyone know the reasoning?

I stopped reasoning with my drivetrain as soon I went to a ten speed cassette; double digits are too much for my little mind. I do know that I went wipperman instead of campy last time I changed it - no need for a special tool. :)
