Thank you all for the great advice. Stuck to most of it. Started out taking it easy felt really good and had enough energy to put some real power down the last 66 miles and never had a crisis the whole ride. Did the ride in 9½ hours. Total blast of a day.

The best part about doing a huge ride like that is you can be lazy for a day or two after and not feel guilty.

Having too "burly" a build, and having a sprint that is measured in geological terms, road racing was never a personal interest outside being a fan of those who do. But distance rides? For me, the reason to own a road machine
