I have the opportunity to purchase one for $40. I would love to have an older rigid bike and this one fits this bill well. Its looks practically brand new. Should I get it? I'm not 100% sure my self if i should or not. Your help would be appreciated.

My Stumpjumper is the same year I think, and probably close to the same frame. Tange Direct Drive tubing, semi-vertical dropouts. Makes a great SS platform. Go for it.

I remember hanging out at the local LBS drooling over one of those things, I think it was the Comp model. Went for about 5 bills back then. Ended up with a Raleigh bonded aluminum/steel number. Still, my buddy's sister got one and they were sweet for their time.
