I really did have a great time. I was pretty upset last night, because we never really found out what happened to the times. Needless to say, I was really disappointed, since we didn't know how we placed. In addition, it took like two-and-a-half hours to get home...

Other than that, it was a great time! I always have fun with my bros and I like to ride with new people! Thanks to everyone!
:thumb: Right on. I know I can't imagine just how much crap is involved in putting a race even this small of a scale. I do hope things run a little smoother next year.

Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrjig. Nice photos! I saw a lot of my freinds. You weren't the guy with the white subaru were you?

A Sinister view...

Let me just start by thanking everyone who showed up... I never expected that kind of turnout and that support will make it easy for them to do more events in the future. Hopefully they will be better thought out, and planned then the issue laden event this weekend.

Timing is always an issue at start up events and they will no doubt fix that next year that's just how it works but you need to be patient as they work them out. Everyone cries that there are not more events and are quick to complain rather than help out.

Hopefully next year, more water, shade, a separate event style setup for the entire DH side of the hill as we REALLY needed a beer vendor!

Huge props to punkassean for giving his entire day to help when he came to race.

All in all it was a typical first time venue event.....they will no doubt learn from there mistakes and try to improve it next year. As someone who's new to the area, any bike event is a good event.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sure the larger-than-expected turnout will ensure a better event next year. Stoked to meet you in person Dave, I'll be all moved in to SB again later this week, we need to go for a ride. :)

I was kinda bummed about the race...It didn't feel like it was very well organized (and I know there were quite a few reasons for this). Seriously though, you couldn't even get a drink on the downhill side, that was a joke. I got lucky and before my race run some people pulled up selling gatorade and water. Ed seemed kinda pissed at the top and was a chode to some people, but I guess he was in a pretty stressful situation. It was funny because one of my friends was joking around about how the results probably wouldn't get post because of how poorly things were going together, turned out he was right :mumble: . We waited around for quite some time too. Oh well, I guess I had a good time and got to ride with some bros.

*the only downhill race you will find where the cross country course is more DH than the DH course

Thanks to the people who put on the event for trying though, we for sure need more of that in Socal.

werd, the refresho sitch on the DH side was whack. When they showed up with bottled water I thought it would be free but it was a $1. With $40 entry fees a free water woulda been nice huh.

Did you check out the pics? There are some of James and Steve in there maybe you too.

I found a couple of me on the site. I was on the demo 9 with black boxxer WC. Where were you? I saw Cameron from velopro on your bike (I think?).

I got stuck being the parking enforcement Nazi

Yeah shred dog took my bike for a quick run w/o a helmet. Of course somehow my headset came loose after he had it for only 1.5 minutes. That guy has the sh!t touch. He rips on the most clapped out bikes ever.

Welcome back! We'll need to grab a round or five one of these days then eh? Oh yeah, and a ride too I suppose...:)
Too bad "my" bar closed down, it was a super-chill place, but let me know when you're sort of settled, and we'll grab a drink.

To be honest, I don't think Ed was ever too serious about posting the results. I think he was just trying to buy time...you know, "the check is in the mail," type of thing. Or, perhaps, him and the scientist from NORBA are still trying to figure where they screwed up...

The thing that makes this really bad is that you would think one of the race officals would have caught on that there was a problem with the times. It shouldn't have been the riders who pointed out the mistake...

James- I know a few low-key (read: off State) bars we can hit up. Let's do it. :)

What was "your" bar?
His bar 'was' the Firebird on Cota, its dead :(

There is always Elsies and Dargans to satisfy your off State St. drinking needs :blah:

So Sean, you moved in yet? Time to ride man!

The firebird is dead? that sucks I liked that place! There's always Jimmy's or even Elsie's or crap the Tiburon or Josie's, the list goes on for mellower spots. But it's a shame the bird is gone.

I'll be getting settled in this weekend. ready to ride shortly thereafter.

Josie's is dead. Why the eff you would even want to go in the Billy Bobs(Tiburon) is beyond me.

Damn, all the good bars are dropping off like flies. Once you turn 21 (you aren't 21 are you  )and realize that mainstream bars on State are teh suck you are stoked to find a nice quiet place to chill w/o all the hype. We used to hit Sporty but it's like "the place to be" these days with bouncers and all. How is Creekside, do they have the restaurant up and running again? They had some good grub there and cheap pool.

Creeksiiiiide in da house yo!
Ehh, its all right. You get an interesting mix of young folk/partiers and the old school/toothless! Better than a frat away from the frathouse (aka State St)

The resturant is up & running, but slow as hell. Order you food before your first drink, seriously.

I gotta stop by that place soon, its been a while.

Really far from 21 :D
Sporty? The Sportsman? That place is like hella old. On figueroa(sp) right?
The creekside seems where the people who are married to their sisters and such hang out, it's a kinda weird location, too.

Yeah, Firebird got it's lease bought out. Sooo sad. That was my bar. Nothing like buying myself a couple of beers, buying a round for Mike and Noah, and a $10 glass of wine, and having a $14 tab...:)
Plus the bartender, in addition to being super-nice, great taste in music (including playing **** I'd bring in), was drop-dead gorgeous...<sigh> I really miss that place. All I have left is a half-used matchbook, and regular emails with her.
But yeah, let's do it soon...
