U unrooted Chimp Oct 22, 2013 11 0 Nov 26, 2013 #1 I've noticed that almost all trail/am bikes come stock with 2.25 tires, is that the first thing you change out??? I've been riding a 29er ht for quite some time and find that the 2.4" tires give me a lot of cushion, would that be unnecessary on a fs bike???

In my experience, some 2.3 tires are really skinny and some 2.2s are ginormous. OTOH, smaller casings == lower weight == bikes in showrooms feel snappier than if they came with big ass heavy 2.4 monsters.
