I am in the market for a new shock for my 05 enduro, as my 5th elements level of suckiness recently skyrocketed with the addition of an aftermarket oil leak...
Problem is that 8.75x2.5 shocks are hard to come by...but 8.75x2.75 are all over the place...has anybody tried a longer stroke shock on a newer model enduro? Major linkage collisions? Any other problems?

When I get home this evening I will take off the 5th and try to get an accurate measure of what will happen with an extra 1/4"...but any inside knowledge with this would be helpful.

Maybe this isnt much help for you but...

TF Tuned in england are rebuilding 5th element shocks for the 05 Enduro / SX Trail by adding 1/4" of stroke, but also 1/8" eye-to-eye on the original shock.

But you would like to keep the eye-to-eye and just add 1/4" of stroke. Its only 1/8" difference from what they do. But maybe thats enough to make the linkage hit the frame?

I bet someone has tried mounting an 8.75"x2.75" shock without spring to see if it works. We'll just have to wait... ;)
