So you may know that I'm looking for a road bike with more relaxed geometry and one able to handle fat tires.

I am narrowing things down a bit and two of my top contenders are as follows:

1. 2009 Kona Honky Tonk - brand new

or

2. 2006 Kona Sutra - barely used (owned by a couple who has a ton of bikes so no one bike gets ridden a ton)

I'm intrigued by the Sutra in the fact that is has nicer steel tubing, it has 135mm rear spacing (and I'm a mountain biker at heart moreso than a road bike rider) and that is has room for meatier tires should I want/need them.

What Would you do? Which bike would you choose and why?

Any help or insights are welcome!

Thanks.

I rode the older (2006) Kona Sutra...great bike, did everything and more. Even did some trail riding with it. It felt more like a mountain bike than a roadie. The frame is strong too, I got hit by a fullsize pickup, small dent in the top tube and bent the bars but otherwise, the frame was fine and someone actually ended up buying it from me.

The Honky Tonk is a completely different kind bike...more of a true roadie. I guess it all depends on what you intend to do with it. The Sutra is far more versatile IMO.
