stanek promotes all the smart-cycles stuff.
basically IMO he killed XC racing in new england by taking every little backwater race in CT and trying to get it to conform to his series format. Big $ for entry nor payback for pro's and experts and the whole points, leaders jerseys' "i'm a pro vet sport racer" attiude that makes mtb not as fun as it used to be...

The jackrabbit course is frigging fun as hell though

raced it last year. nice course, but was really muddy at section, as if you were riding down a stream. really cool jeff lenosky trials show, but the fee is steep. dont know of anywhere to stay, but because of the exclusivity of the area, will likely be kinda of expensive. ill be there again this year, hoping to actually finish. it was my first face ever last year and i broke my chain and couldn't fix. from now on i race with a chain tool. good luck, great race.
