The 26trix course may look easy and smooth, but the reality is that the jumps and transitions are made almost entirely out of concrete, meaning that every fall could be very costly. This year, Thomas Genon risked life and limb to take the top spot with an absolutely insane run.

The bike park in Leogang, Austria, played host to the 26TRIX fueled by Monster Energy event, as part of the Out of Bounds Festival for the 7th time on May 24-27, 2012.

This dirt jump competition was won with a surprising run of the 18 year old Belgian Thomas Genon. With a technical and versatile mix of tricks, he was able to edge out Martin Soderstrom and Sam Reynolds to land the top spot on the podium. Genon’s front flip, 360 barspin to x-up, to double tailwhip, a decade as well as an gigantic 360 flatspin at the last jump were just enough to top Soderstrom’s triple tailwhip and Reynolds’ double backflip, and take the prize purse of 15,000 Euro.

Second placed Soderstrom did, however, win a title in Leogang, as he successfully defended his title bunny hop contest on the evening of May with an height of 1.2 meters (over 47-inches).

The Leogang Bikepark is proud to have hosted an extraordinary and high-class Out of Bounds Festival for 2012. Bikepark Leogang’s general manager Kornel Grundner commented on the event: “This year we were really lucky and we had a perfect event: an awesome rider’s line up at the downhill and at the 26TRIX, as well as perfect weather conditions, a lot of visitors, bringing the right mood for the contests. After this felicitous rehearsal here in Leogang, we are looking forward to the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships at the end of August in Saalfelden Leogang!”
