i recently ripped my vinyl copies of _Star Booty_ and _Umber_. hadn't listened to them in a while.

Jon Fine is now writing a column for Business Week. :monkey:

ahhh yes... i used to work the door when they would open for my buddy's band the I-Rails... LA (Madam Wongs), Ventura (Charlie's), Oxnard (various), and Santa Barbara (Pat's Grass Shack and various other places.. sometimes we would rent place called The Barn new UCSB and they would play there). I remember the lead singer in high school (and maybe the other band members were to, i dont recall) and we would have to slip them out the back when the cops came buy when they were playing bars.

my buddy's band the I-Rails went on to become The Primitive Radio Gods.. same band members sans Jeff Sparks.

Hope to get tickets to see all these guys plus everlast and more at the Tweeter Center in MA on 6/1.

Also might see Everclear for free in a couple weeks.

90's bands I'd be curious about:
Sponge - Saw them live for a small venue(Club Babyhead in Prov,RI)tour and they were awesome and so normal looking. Next disc they looked like Glam Alternative(if there's such a category)
Goldfinger - Saw these guys at Lupo's in Providence. I know a lot folks think they're ska/punk posers, but I don't care, they entertained me and still do when I throw their album on repeat in the iPod.
Watercress - Band from Ireland I saw at the Guinness Fleadh - awesome live band, lots of jammin, and the disc Bummer was excellent. Lost the disc was some douche stole my CD Deck out of my Jeep. Finally found the singer's myspace page this week.

Best part about "has been" bands is they are back playing at the smaller clubs, they're back doing their own thing(no influence from the rep), and they're usually better musicians after years of working in the business.
