9spd SRAM chain w/ 10spd SRAM drivetrain?

i found this new/old chain from when i used to have a 9spd DH rig, and have no use for it if it isn't compatible. how long can this go on? if my only consideration is link thickness, and my drivetrain isn't new (so i'm guessing it's been worn in enough so that this slop is negligible), can i get away with this for the next 100 hrs or so (when i plan to replace everything anyway)? my setup is on a 36t/104bcd (no chaindrop pin, as i have an integrated chainguard). i can't imagine my 22t small ring comes into play...

ok, you think i can go from 36t/22t to 38t/24t (104bcd for 10sp)? is the diameter still within tolerance of the chainguard? teh google isn't terribly helpful.

it's an academic question at this point; i ordered a lightly used pair for a modest sum.

fvck. i realized i already cut my chain...

update: after a few rides, it seems to work mostly well (can't tell yet if my imperfect shifting is due to the chain, or just a needed barrel adjustment). all i need to be complete is perhaps get a bashguard that fits a 38t ring, but even then, i'm not DHing, so there's no urgency.

In hell. Welcome!
I should have been more specific in my original answer - I cannot tell a difference in shifting performance between a PC1051 and a PC991 on my 1x10 setup. The only difference is, the 10sp chain wears out faster.
