anyone else experience Shimano brake pads falling apart?

I don't use Shimano pads but have had plenty other brands pads braking surface de-laminate from the backing plate over the years.

PITA when it happens but it's nothing new really.

I can't find the source, but I read that this happened with a batch of Shimano pads that were OE specs. Aftermarket pads were not affected.

EBC, Hope, Superstar and AVID.. on various discs (incl Shimano SLX)

it can happen to them all

Never used Shimano brakes but I've never had it happen, not even on the $5 Ebay pads I'm running now....

I'd imagine many many riders haven't ever experienced their pads de-laminating, I have no idea how long they've been using discs, how many pads they've used or how much they actually ride ether..

What I can tell you though, is, the braking surface de-laminating from the backing plate doesn't really have anything to do with how much you've paid for the pads..

There are a number of reasons for it happening.. Google can explain it better than I
