This was my experience with bearings. First you need to go to an auto supply place-someplace like a Napa where they actually know something. Have them measure the bearings if you dont have a tape to get the ID-OD and height. They might be able to get the bearing-probably not. In my case I called the two bearing shops in seattle. Neither stocked the bearing. I found some bearings on line by entering just the dimesions and the word bearing-but you had to buy a bunch plus shipping. I ended up going back thru Giant and got the bearings maybe three weeks later. Also the price was cheap.

Good subject. I'm also in the market for "supposedly sealed bearings" for a cheaper set of Ritchey hubs that came with the wheelset.
All 4 bearings were trashed just after a few rides. They have Ritchey numbers on the seals but just a few minutes with a pair of calipers will convert. Think it might be quicker/cheaper then to just contact the good folks at Ritchey?

When I tried to find an exact match for the Giant bearings I never could. I found the identical dimensions but Giant used rubber sealed bearings and the only other ones were stainless steel. I know some people have swapped the rubber for stainless. It might be cheaper to go through Ritchey or a Ritchey dealer. Giant provided the parts for basically the cost of shipping. If you call a bearing shop they will want the Inside Diameter, Outside Diameter and height. If the bearing says RS that means rubber sealed. The other numbers might be the diameters, but you need to know the height.

All bearings have #'s on the seals (rubber or metal). Use those to determin what one you need.

here is a good source that most Bike shops can order from as well, and you can see if its in stock or not so you can call BS on the guy when he says... "uh sorry, but i cant get those anywhere..."

There is a bearing supply house in Everett. Near the Naval station (at least in the DT Everett area on the bay side of Colby) I always went there for motorcycle bearings when they wheels or suspension gave up the ghost.

Can't remember their name off hand but I can drive there no problem (doesn't really help you does it?)

I am not sure which on it is...

Kaman Industrial Technologies Corporation
1106 Hewitt Avenue, Everett, WA 98201
(425) 259-3189

Applied Industrial Technologies
2922 West Marine View Drive, Everett, WA 98201
(425) 259-5585

I am thinking it is Applied.....but I am not sure. Can't hurt to much to give them both a call. Often the serial number on the bearign will tell them all they need to know....sometimes you need to measure (or if you are close bring it in to them)

Edit: you know they are so dang close together they might be related or maybe one and the same......

Brown Bearing (aka Gerrish)
4th ave s just south of costco

Call them and tell them the number that is on the rubber seal. Make sure you get sealed and not sheilded bearings. They may have to order them as most industrial apps call for sheilded bearings.
