So I'm a beginner getting into the hobby. I'm getting a little bored with just downhill and free riding and want to start learning some cool tricks. However, I'm not very creative and also do not want to kill myself trying advanced tricks as a beginner. Anyone have any suggestions on easy tricks that are fun to do and look cool?

What kind of tricks can you do? I'd start with the fundamentals and a big one is a wheelie or manual. Then, link the manual to whatever obstacle is around you.

Start with front flips and work up from there.

Step one: Ask about it on a mountainbike forum.
Step two: get made fun of.
Step three: Get a clue and just start trying stuff you see in viddys.

i'd suggest learning x-up first and if don't already know how then definatly a whip as well first then transitioning to bar spin and the tail whips 3's and beyond i did all this by simply making a trampoline bike it is amazing the progression you can make with one of those however if you don't have access to a trampoline or an old to make a trampoline bike from then find or build you self a jump that is floaty and has a soft landing the will be perfect for learning tricks
