Self-professed cynics, the blokes across the pond at Orange admit that they were rather skeptical of the 29er trend when wagon wheels first started making waves over in the States. Not ones to bury their heads in the sand, though, they began testing big-wheeled designs to see if, in fact, there was something worthwhile in the concept. Low and behold, a couple years later Orange has introduced the Gyro, its very first 29er.
Designed around Oranges core design philosophy of quality and reliability, the Gyro features Oranges signature folded-aluminum construction and the companys classic single-pivot design and one-piece rear swingarm. Offering up 110 millimeters of travel, the Gyro is designed around a 120-millimeter fork (A Factory-level Fox in this case) to provide the ideal geometry. While on the subject, Orange promises that the Gyros geometry maintains the brands characteristic agile nature, and with 17.8-inch chainstays and a 69.5-degree head angle, the claim is pretty believable.
If youd like to become an owner, act fast, as the initial run for the Gyro Black Gold model is set at just 50 bikes.
