I have been wanting to check out the new section of the Black Canyon Trail from the Black Canyon City trail head and this weekend I finally made it.

Once on the trail we decided push on past the out and back do the whole package, a 24 mile adventure which consists of the new BCT section and the Little Pan Loop. This also consists of four water crossings, a butt load of climbing, high pucker exposure and some of the sweetest single track I have ever had the privilege of riding. Combine all this with beer, burgers and some of the famous pie at the Rock Springs Cafe post ride and you have "the full meal deal".

At the first water crossing

The climbing begins

The parade up the trail

Three tiers of the trail in view

One of more than several series of switchbacks

Heading down

Tough wash crossing

Through the wash

Water crossing #2

On the switchback...

And into the drink

Open Range! (sorry, had to do that)

Conclusion

Stats

Thanks for looking!

Great report, awsome pictures!

Small question; How much mileage/climbing if you take out Little Pawn loop?

Thanks! According to James, aka Mr. BCT from BCC (Black Canyon City) to the intersection of the Little Pan loop out and back has a mileage of 16.9 miles and 2,837 feet of climbing.
