Your best bet downtown is Skirack/Downhill Edge (can't remember which name won out). It's on main street about 2 blocks down from the Flynn. Across the street is Northstar cyclery as well. I don't know if either rent, but they are well located.
If you end up further up in the city, near UVM, Alpine Shop is on Williston road near the I-89 interchange. Lastly, if you end up further out Williston road, there is Earl's cyclery.

I hear ya. I went to school at UVM and then worked for 8 years in the area. Grew up just down the road in Barre as well. Cool place to be fo sho.
